The Pond that Absorbed Me

I wish this story had more readers, cuz the ML is hilariously self- devastating jerk on a survival mission with gorgeous company he doesn’t care about. They shared constellations earlier, but now light-years separated their ‘whispered’ wishes… *** In a moment of unforeseen Fate, a young man reaches into the icy waters, but with a sudden, forceful pull, he is drawn into its depths. Now shrouded in the Darkness he endures his imprisonment there. “Reconnecting with an old friend is like finding a lost jade—if only it were worth the trouble.” Xiǎo Fù, The Servant. *** Meanwhile, in the secluded monastery the Great Master’s rage ignites when his servant vanishes. Four days of torment, anger, and longing leave every monk wishing for their own end… until an unexpected visitor comes. “Ah, just when you thought the storm had passed, here comes the flood.” Fēng Bó, The Great Master. *** At this very time, the Prince suffers distress by the grief of loss, spending his days in drunken mourning in order to dull the pain. He doesn't have any desire to cling to life anymore, but being immortal, he cannot just die. “Eternity? Like waiting for a thousand cherry blossoms to bloom—one by one.” Mùnchén, The Second Prince. *** Forbidden practices, Heavenly secrets, Fate’s defiance and the Realms on the brink of War. As well as Curse, Scheming, Sacrifice and Punishment that turns God into Wandering Spirit, and Spirit into the only Heavenly Heir. Sarcasm on the edge of torture, both evoke the bittersweet ache of missed encounters and unfulfilled destinies. *** THE LEGEND In a world where Realms are connected, there's an old tale—a Legend that whispers of Balance and hidden Powers. According to this lore, all Realms share a common origin, and their Fates are intertwined. Realms are destined to coexist as one. Here, no hierarchy prevails—no masters, no slaves. Instead, Realms harmonize, their existence interwoven threads. Should the Balance falter, Chaos looms, and the Abyss threatens to swallow everything. Yet, when the Abyss fully absorbs the Realms, the Celestial Source establishes a new Cycle of Life, and brings new Realms to coexist. But even if the Abyss is undeniable, a hope remains, for within the same Source that birthed the Abyss lies an indomitable Force—a Guardian, the One, born to confront, combat, and seal it. Thus, the current Realms gain their chance at survival. *** PS This story was planned long ago, but life is life, so I only decided to share it within online community now. That’s why your support means a world to me. Thx in advance! *** All intellectual property rights of this novel chapters are owned by the author (uttophian).

THE FALL.

The moment my fingers touched the cold water, I felt a shiver. Looking down, I saw my scared reflection. I had never learned to swim back in the mountains, where all the rivers were shallow as well as in monastery I hadn't got my chance. And before I knew that swimming skills might have been of vital importance now, I was sinking. Fully drowned, I thought I'd hit the bottom, but instead, everything went dark.

Was that what usually should be happening when you faced death?

Then a realization hit me—if I was thinking, I might still be alive. And if alive, so for how long I might still stay alive? This thought seemed an endless torture I couldn't escape, until I finally tried to open my eyes. But I couldn't. I felt nothing and I had no control over any face muscle, as if I had no eyes at all. Moreover, I couldn't feel my entire body too, even a part. What a death game it was?!

"You're doing it wrong," a voice echoed around me. It sounded annoyed. "Stop thinking and open your mind!"

"Open my mind?" I was confused.

The voice sighed, "I wish you were a mortal and already dead instead of being trapped with you here! What a turture!"

"Trapped with me?" I asked again, still not getting it.

"Yes, me, just me here," the voice said, sounding an even more irritated. "No ideas where we are? Open your mind and see for yourself! Come on, don't be a dump! Or you'll stay trapped in here forever!"

So, I really died?

Did I just die falling into a pond? A pond that was always knee-deep, just for lilies and that fat fish almost every monk fed?

The shock of it all turned into a kind of panic.

"Calm down!" that same voice snapped.

"No way you are saying this?! You mean… Calm down after I just realized that I'm dead? Is it a joke?" I argued back.

"Celestial Stars! Your Stupidity is the yin to wisdom's yang. Keeps the balance, you know."

Not like I wished to be lectured at this very moment.

"If you don't calm down now, you'll actually die! Don't be that stubborn ox that pulls the cart of destiny!" the voice warned.

Wait, what? I was already dead, and now I could die again? Could a new dying get even worse? Was there another way to die? For real?

*Thx for reading.

Well, I had no intention to start with killing the character, and it’s not what it might seem. But when one door shuts, another comes to be opened. Let’s see…
