The Pond that Absorbed Me

I wish this story had more readers, cuz the ML is hilariously self- devastating jerk on a survival mission with gorgeous company he doesn’t care about. They shared constellations earlier, but now light-years separated their ‘whispered’ wishes… *** In a moment of unforeseen Fate, a young man reaches into the icy waters, but with a sudden, forceful pull, he is drawn into its depths. Now shrouded in the Darkness he endures his imprisonment there. “Reconnecting with an old friend is like finding a lost jade—if only it were worth the trouble.” Xiǎo Fù, The Servant. *** Meanwhile, in the secluded monastery the Great Master’s rage ignites when his servant vanishes. Four days of torment, anger, and longing leave every monk wishing for their own end… until an unexpected visitor comes. “Your Stupidity is the Yin to Wisdom’s Yang. Keeps the balance, you know.” Xījiǎo Yùshén, The Water Master. *** At this very time, the Prince suffers distress by the grief of loss, spending his days in drunken mourning in order to dull the pain. He doesn't have any desire to cling to life anymore, but being immortal, he cannot just die. “Eternity? Like waiting for a thousand cherry blossoms to bloom—one by one.” Mùnchén, The Second Prince. *** Forbidden practices, Heavenly secrets, Fate’s defiance and the Realms on the brink of War. As well as Curse, Scheming, Sacrifice and Punishment that turns God into Wandering Spirit, and Spirit into only Heavenly Heir. Sarcasm on the edge of torture, both evoke the bittersweet ache of missed encounters and unfulfilled destinies. *** THE LEGEND In a world where Realms are connected, there's an old tale—a Legend that whispers of Balance and hidden Powers. According to this lore, all Realms share a common origin, and their Fates are intertwined. Realms are destined to coexist as one. Here, no hierarchy prevails—no masters, no slaves. Instead, Realms harmonize, their existence interwoven threads. Should the Balance falter, Chaos looms, and the Abyss threatens to swallow everything. Yet, when the Abyss fully absorbs the Realms, the Celestial Source establishes a new Cycle of Life, and brings new Realms to coexist. But even if the Abyss is undeniable, a hope remains, for within the same Source that birthed the Abyss lies an indomitable Force—a Guardian, the One, born to confront, combat, and seal it. Thus, the current Realms gain their chance at survival. *** PS This story was planned long ago, but life is life, so I only decided to share it within online community now. That’s why your support means a world to me >> give me, pls, at least the smallest sign that my work is not in vain so I can happily proceed writing. I’m grateful for your like, comment or review. I appreciate every reader who spends their time following my characters’ journey throughout the chapters and helping me develop their best and worst traits, as well as torture, challenges, punishments and adventures. SOMEONE DEMOTED.

"So you remember your worthless mortal life as a slave, yet the curse's origin eludes you?"

The voice's bewilderment and anger verged on a scream. I longed to cover my ears, but they were absent—like my hands.

"You're not focused, are you?" the voice snapped, annoyed. "Attempting to guide you is like navigating a fog-shrouded forest. Concentrate!" it ordered. "Your mind is blind, just like you. Figure it out quickly before the Abyss claims you irrevocably! What if I'm dragged down too due to your stupidity?"

The Abyss… The Abyss was one way only. But Darkness… Darkness was a border zone, you could hang out here like in prison, and no one ever could sense or find you, even with heavenly artifacts. But you could not escape, just wait. Either punished or cursed, your stay here had a statute of limitations. The question was, how long was mine? And if I was cursed, when this curse had started…

"Well, you've finally started to think in the right!" At least this creature could cheer me up.

"You're thinking and that's good," the voice noted. "I can't interfere."

"What are you?" I finally asked. "Voice? Some Celestial Creature? Daemon? My imagination?"

"You cling to ignorance like moss on ancient stones. Can't I be more than a creature or demon?" The voice sounded offended.

Perhaps a demon, I thought—impatient, conscienceless, too sensitive. That was definitely close to that one I was hearing.

"What a cursed bastard here!" He retorted.

"You seem a demon to me! I can't help it! Just endure it," I paused, "Or explain yourself."

Annoyance surged. "Stop making me the focus of your thoughts. Concentrate and connect your consciousness."

"So, you expect a little bit of work from me, don't you?" I pressed. "Or do you avoid questions about yourself?"

"Tooting!" it replied. "About me…"

But it didn't matter at all as I needed answers.

"So… Who are you?"

"Just immortal," it confessed.

"An immortal? Like immortal-immortal God?"

"Not quite..."

"What's complicated about that?" I scoffed. "Or… Or you were once a God? Now demoted? Demoted to what? Demoted to just immortal? Wow!"

"That's none of your business," the voice snapped. "My patience wears thin, like a well-trodden path eroded by rain. Start thinking for yourself!"

I sensed anger, and still proved once again that it felt demon-like.

"Answer for the demon," he suddenly threatened. "I'll push you into the Abyss myself and tell the Master you perished."

A twist—he fled here due to the Master's order?

*Thx for reading.
