Chapter 81

When I came to my senses, I found myself back at the society's headquarters.?I was sitting on a chair with my hands tied together with a rope behind my back. It took a few seconds before I recognized the familiar office.

My head was still spinning when I heard the conversation.

"This was all part of your plan?" It was Auriel's voice.

"Quite unexpected, yes?"

Auriel was standing close to where Mr. White was. His hands were also bound like mine.

"What if I reveal everything to the police?"

"Do you dare to? Even with your relatives' lives on the line?"

Auriel stayed silent.

"Oh? It seems Miss Peony is awake now."

Mr. White walked over to me.

Auriel reacted violently. "No! Don't involve her in this! Let her go at least."

He tried to get in between me and Mr. White, but was pushed away. His mask fell off and landed beside Mr. White's foot.

"What a shame."

Mr. White crushed the mask with his heel.

Auriel kept his back facing me the whole time.
