Chapter 49

Although we had one more day of school before the weekend, Gene and I decided to stay up late gaming to our hearts' content. We finally found out what happened to Ron and saved him in the next Chapter. After that, I couldn't really concentrate on the game anymore.

"Are you still bothered about what Mr. Shark said?" Gene asked. He always seemed to be good at reading my mind.

"Yeah. Momo is one of my few good friends. I don't want to have to be careful around her."

"Let's clear up their connection so we can put your mind at ease."

"But what if they actually turn out to be part of it?"

"Then it's best not to trust them."

I sighed. "You're the only friend I can really trust."

For some reason, the expression on his face was a bit melancholic.

"Beatrice, as a general rule, don't trust anyone completely." He stood up. "Let's get some rest before Ms. Cat scolds us in the morning for waking up late. We don't want to stress her out."

I nodded. "Alright."
