Chapter 43

When the elevator doors opened, the first thing I noticed was the faint smell of blood. It made me feel uneasy.

What happened here...?

The whole place was a mess. It was hard to see everything under the dim lights, but anyone could tell that whatever happened here must have been terrible.

I looked at Mr. Shark for answers. He must have sensed my curiosity.

"My brother disagreed with the research they did here. He gathered people like Prof. Dog and I to wipe out the entire research team. Unfortunately, he succeeded in getting this place shut down. I assume he took all the documents he could, but there were probably some he missed. That's what we're here for."

"But why only do it now after a lot of time has passed?" I asked.

"I didn't think there'd be more volumes, but I've uncovered some information about a locked stash somewhere in this building. Hopefully, no one has gotten to it yet."

Mr. Shark tossed two flashlights. Gene caught them both.
