Chapter 15

"Sure took you long," the wolf-masked man said as soon as he saw Auriel.

"Hey, it's hard seeing in the dark without night vision goggles." Auriel had a large back with him. The book was probably inside. I mean, where else could it be?

"You should've asked."

Auriel sighed. "Well, I got the book. Let's go."

"Wait! Give that book back!" I jumped out.

"How did you get here!?" Auriel exclaimed. He looked horrified to see me at least that what I thought he looked like behind the mask. To think that a girl such as I could produce that expression on a phantom thief's face!

"Leave this girl to me." The wolf-masked man pulled out a syringe. "Don't worry. I'll just knock you out temporarily."

I really hate needles.

I braced myself for a tough fight when reinforcement suddenly arrived.

"Stay away from our friend!" Momo shouted and moved in between us.

"Momo!?" I was surprised that she actually managed to find me and appear at the right time.

I-It's like I'm in a movie!
