The Peasants System(Hiatus)

This book has been Dropped. I apologize for the inconvenience. I put a lot of effort into this story and had big plans for it but Its progress has been lackluster. I have been reviewing it as well as one of my more successful stories and have found some of the flaws that this story had. I'm working on a new story that will hopefully be a better read overall and will hopefully be released by the end of October 2022. --- Drew Pence had always had a rough life. From the moment his brother was born he was thrown to the side and was treated as a stepping stone for their 'Golden Son'. But even though his family had made his life a living hell he still believed they had his back. That if all else failed, they would be there for him. But he was wrong. He got stabbed and after waking in the hospital his family was nowhere to be found. They had ditched him. So he made a deal with a stranger. Go to a place where you can receive true freedom... and in return, all you owe him is a single favor. And that was how Drew found himself in the world of Lune, a land of Myth and Magic, Gods and Demons, and Peasants and Kings. Drew awakes with a hangover in a body older and stronger than he had ever known back and earth. Though he quickly finds that he lacks something everyone else has. Magic. But as time goes by, he finds that gaining magic is the least of his difficulties. Will he tough out this hostile world with his unique [Mana Reaper] skill? Or will he perish like all the others who were born a Peasant? Only time can tell what fate awaits Drew. --- Hey guys, if you reading this after reading one of my previous works I just wanted to give you an explanation of what caused me to move on. I had a lot of health issues that popped up suddenly and found that I didn't have the energy or focus to write much and after around 3-4 months I felt that I had lost connection with the book and found it harder to write. After some deliberation, I decided to move on and work on this story instead which has been brewing in my head for a few years now. I hope you enjoy it!

Skill Selection and First Day of Real Training

After mulling over his choices for nearly half an hour he came to a conclusion.

'Some skills are insanely useful, but... they require talents that I don't have the knack for yet,'

'For instance, a skill called [Eyes of The Vigilant] requires me to gain insight on deceitful people's true motives 10 times and by doing so I will have the ability to discern illusions for what they are and be able to tell if someone is lying to me,'

'Though it is a great skill it is not feasible for me to learn it right now due to my lack of contact with people and my lack of ability to see through people's lies,'

'And another skill that would be hard to learn and not worth the time as of now would be [Sharpness]. It requires an innate knack for the skill and a good amount of luck to even approach learning it so it is just out of the question,'

'The only feasible skills would be a skill called [Acceleration] which allows me to have a decent increase in speed at the cost of some nightmarish running exercises or a skill called [Quick Strike] which increases my attack speed by a huge chunk while requiring me to be able to strike quickly and precisely while under pressure while needing to maintain composure and a correct fighting pose,'

'And after a lot of deliberation, I think Acceleration would be the best skill to learn right now so that I could catch up to prey quicker and kill them without an issue. It would also make it to where I could survive by running away from pursuers in case I find myself in a similar situation to the guards from before,'

'And it might help me get another skill that seems to be the easiest skill to learn which is called [Stealth]. It only requires me to have 3 stealth kills without being caught in between targets, and it can be used on animals instead of humans,'

'Time to review the full descriptions of the two skills to review the training required for them as well as the estimated amount of time to learn them,' Drew thought before flipping to the appropriate pages near the back of the book and reading the skills intensely while trying to use his knowledge of earth's physical training methods to maybe increase his chance at learning the skills quicker.

---

Acceleration: Lv: 1:

Requirements to learn: You must be able to consistently be able to run a 1-mile run within 5 minutes.

Training Regimen: Endurance runs for 30 minutes at a time. Sprints for 1 hour at a time. Alternate until you are sick to the stomach.

The estimated amount of time to learn: 2 weeks if you are compatible with the skill.

Description: Increase your speed and burst speed within a moment's notice.

Flaws: Speed increases cause a lot of fatigue and training anywhere above Level 1 of this skill takes more effort than most other skills and is incredibly difficult to progress in.

-

Stealth: Lv: 1:

Requirements to learn: You must be able to kill three individuals from stealth in one strike in a row(Meaning no messed-up kills in between targets).

Training regimen: Practice hunting, tracking, and stealthing is a good way of getting this skill easily. The target does not need to be human so you can use this to sneak up on small critters and kill them within a few seconds of seeing them.

The estimated amount of time to learn: Typically this skill can be learned within a week if the user has hunted before. If the user has not hunted before It will take them longer if they are not skilled at it.

Description: Increases the body's natural stealth capabilities while also increasing the user's instincts in the matter of stealth.

Flaws: A well-rounded skill that is quite easy to learn.

'Interesting... Acceleration requires nearly 2 weeks to learn even if I am talented in running and speed,'

'A mile in 5 minutes... That's on the level of professional athletes back on Earth,'

'The descriptions are flavorful, to say the least,' Drew thought as he saw some of the 'colorful' expressions used in the training regimes.

"Huh, Running until you are sick to your stomach... fun," Drew said with a light chuckle as he felt as if running until he was sick to his stomach would be an incredibly hard task for someone as fit as him.

'Stealth will probably be accomplished in the following month or two after I learn Acceleration so it shouldn't be a problem to gain two skills in 2-3 months which should increase my survivability by quite a bit,'

After tailoring the exercise for Acceleration for himself, Drew ate more than he had in quite a while before hitting the sack early.

'I have a sinking suspicion that tomorrow will not be as fun as exercising has been so far...' Drew thought before sleep overtook him.

---

Drew awoke to the beautiful sounds of nature mere feet away from his door. He stood up and stretched so wide that he managed to touch both ends of the shack with ease.

'It is quite cramped in here... Maybe if I travel to another town sometime I can finally feel the comforts of living in a place with beds instead of some piled up grass,'

After eating a light snack to line his stomach before his run that was filled mostly with bread he began to do some basic stretches he learned from gym class when he was younger and felt his body relax and loosen up compared to a few minutes before.

"Time to get to work," Drew said in a hushed tone as he stared into the forest with a hint of caution deep within his eyes.

Drew had scouted the forest and found that it wasn't that large and seemed to actually be a pretty good place for exercise since the air here was fresher than in the abandoned farm lot he slept in.

He looked forward and scanned his surroundings before beginning to jog lightly with a pep in his step that would not last for long.

---

He didn't even last 2 hours before he dropped dead back at the shack filled with more fatigue than he had felt in his entire two lives.

"Who the-" Drew huffed as he struggled to inhale enough oxygen for his deprived lungs that seemed to scream out in need for more of that sweet and refreshing air.

"Decided running was good for you?" He finished with anger evident in his voice.

"And I got another 2 weeks at least of this... It is not gonna be fun being a warrior," Drew said with a voice filled with a little bit of regret after realizing the physical torture he would have to go through in the near future.

"Too bad I lost my only magic affinity only half an hour after I received it..." Drew said aloud in regret as he opened up the status and decided to browse the progress he had made over the past week.

He stared at his Scythe Mastery skill and felt a little bit of pride creep up on him as he realized he had raised it by quite a bit in a short amount of time due to the manual Atum had given him.

'Let's take a look if there was any change in the descriptions of Scythe Mastery and Blessing of Bram,' Drew thought while pulling up the definitions of the skills which had indeed changed.

---

[Scythe Mastery: Lv: 3]: Your current level of mastery with the Scythe. The pace at which you increase this skill varies depending on many factors but the main one is your Affinity with Scythes. Scythes are weapons that are meant to reap your enemy's blood out of their bodies. It is a tool to harvest your enemies like crops. You are at the Novice level of strength on the journey of the elegant and dangerous scythe. You have access to a basic combat stance with your current understanding and can learn skills unique to the Scythe that other weapon users cannot learn. You have moderately increased physical stats while wielding Scythes, the distribution of the increase is as follows: Speed gets the highest increase, Strength gets the middle most amount of increase, and Endurance gets the smallest benefit.

-

[Blessing of Bram: Lv: ???]: You have been blessed by Bram, though only with the intent to get you to stop doing something against his will. You are lucky you escaped unscathed… especially so since you have gained this strange skill. You have an innate increased mana pool compared to others and your mana is more pure and powerful. You have increased gains when learning about the Light Element and you can increase your affinity with the light element by earning Bram's favor.

Bram's Current Goal: Find a way to help out Atun, he has found himself in a bind due to you and it would be beneficial for me if he were alieved of his burdens for a while.

---

'Interesting... It seems as if I have grown to the third tier of a Scythe warrior in such a short time,'

'I might be able to become a citizen if I manage to keep up my current growth and become a Master Weapon user,' Drew thought with clear excitement on his face.

'And it seems as if I can see what Bram want's me to do to improve his favor...'

'I wonder if I finish the task he has currently given me if I will gain back the Light Magic Affinity?'

'Maybe magic is still within reach...'
