Chapter 50: Race

Sometimes I think I'm evil, but why would anyone do anything that doesn't benefit them anyway? I'm still mad, but nevertheless, she apologized. Also, I was thinking of going in that direction anyway,' Alex thought, walking beside Ximena and Sasha. Why didn't he choose Ava? She could protect the village and the child.

Asher and Davian would only hold them back. So, they stayed anyway. Alex wasn't really confident in defeating an S-rank being; the gap in power between their levels was extremely high. Alex knew it was going to be a tough fight; that's why he brought Ximena to fight alongside him. Another reason for going to the lawless city was to meet the greatest martial arts master, who was known for having fun.

The guy was a little bit annoying, but Alex knew that if he wanted to strengthen himself and the children he left, he would need his help, no matter the cost. In his eyes, by doing what he was going to do, he and everyone beside him would be in danger. Not wanting any of them to die, they needed to become strong enough to defend themselves. Not only them, but he also knew how the future was going to unfold as the gods played their game.

Sighing, he spoke, "Okay, touch me again." The two ladies touched him, wearing worried expressions, which Alex noticed, and inquired, "What is it?"

"You just exhausted your mana a few minutes ago. How has it already been restored?" Ximena asked.

Sasha then spoke, "You know you have already made us pass about 30 km. We can arrive there a day earlier, so don't strain yourself."

"It's okay, and I'm not even straining myself in the very least. We should also do this as fast as possible," Alex said, looking at the space around him. 'Also, I just want to be done with this and rest for, well, is 2 to 3 years of quietness too much to ask for?' His eyes saw afar, and before them all, they arrived on top of a mountain.

"Why are we going on top of a mountain?" Sasha asked, with some fear in her eyes.

"Ooh, are you scared?" Ximena teased.

"Shut up."

Alex smiled, his eyes still covered with a cloth, pointing afar, "We have arrived, but we will need to fly there to arrive quicker," he spoke, stopping the catfighting behind him.

"Wait, I can't fly," Sasha replied.

Alex started floating, and Ximena's wings were already out. "Hey Ximena, do you want to race?"

Her smile widened. "How about Sasha?" she inquired, moving closer to him.

"Sasha, try to keep up, alright."

"Wait…." Before Sasha could retort, Alex's voice rang out like lightning and thunder. "Go!" A shockwave was left behind as the two figures that were once there started flying at great speeds. Alex was extremely happy with what was happening; his speed matching Ximena's. Why would that make him happy? Let me explain.

[Psychokinesis – The ability to intervene in the movement of materials through thought. The stronger your mind becomes, the more you can carry.]

His flying ability is linked to this skill and not his strength or his soul abilities. Think about this. If Alex wants to go even faster, his mentality should become even more powerful. Being able to match Ximena was something he wasn't really expecting. Anyway, he was greatly impressed with his mental growth and focus.

[Activate mana skin]

Activating mana skin will ensure he doesn't get injured at such high speeds, but that is when Ximena smiled, and her speed started increasing. Alex just saw someone coming in front of him, and the gap started increasing even more. Thinking deeply of a way to win, balls of arcane mana appeared on his hands, and burst beams shot out before pushing him forward to catch up to Ximena.

"Okay, darling, that is impressive, but do you really think you can match my speed?" After those words, a burst of silver flames came from her body, pushing herself forward using Alex's technique.

Alex smiled before using his mind link and saying that [Okay, you won]. He stopped, and his eyes stared back, with Ximena coming back with a smile on her face.

"You are extremely fast, Ximena," Alex said.

"Praise me more, and tell me how amazing I am."

"Yes, you are, but I'll praise you later. For now, I want to ask you something. Can you defeat an S-rank?" Alex inquired.

With a pounding expression, she replied, "Of course, but it will be a close call, to say the least."

Nodding, Alex stared back and then said, "Keep an eye on her; don't let her do unnecessary things in the city."

"How about you?"

"I'll be looking for someone there. If I don't find him, then I will just join you later." Ximena and a smile appeared, moving close to Alex. Smiling, he stroked her hair. "I said later."

"But it will take her some minutes or even an hour to reach here," she pouted, seeing Alex's non-gaze. "Okay, fine then," Ximena spoke and Alex chuckled.
