Chapter 11: Mistake

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

On a bed somewhere below the guild, Alex stared at the man with black hair, a beard, and a much more muscular build than himself, and even then Mike, analyzing his body. Mike stood at the door quietly with a complex expression.

Malcolm the guild leader was confused for some moment but soon showed an expression of understanding and he said, "It seems like your blood and cells are much different from any ordinary human." He exclaimed and further explained, "The poison is being destroyed by your own body's defense system so don't worry."

Standing up Alex inquired, "Will the pain lessen." The reason he's able to keep such a calm expression is mostly because of his soul king skill.

[Soul King.]

[The spirit of the supreme emperor is imbued with it and is unshakable under any circumstances. Fully immune to all mental debuffs and attacks connected to the soul.

Every word and action is imbued with the dignity and coercion of a ruler. Significantly increased the chance of gaining an upper hand in the conversation. From the moment it is activated it will become Passive.]

No matter how much he wanted to his dignity as a supreme emperor couldn't be moved. But the pain was also decreasing with time and he wanted to make sure.

Malcolm replied "Am surprised you can tolerate it. " He remarked and said, "Anyway how did you get yourself injured."

"Some encounters." those few words had many meanings with one of them being that he didn't want to talk much about it. Understanding Malcolm just nodded.

"Some adventures are having trouble with an orc tribe I was wondering if you two could check it out." His words sound like he was giving them an option, but it was mostly an order.

Alex and Mike understood that they asked " When."

"You will be healed in three days." he went to the door and replied, "So finish the quest after that." he left the room leaving the two.

Mike sighed "We won't be able to take on 100 orcs alone."

"one hundred," Alex exclaimed.

"Yes, that's what the report said when I checked it yesterday and the possibility of being more is there." he stared at Alex waiting for his judgment.

Considering his next actions he asked, "Can you bring along those mages from before and that healer."

"Yes, but at the moment they're on a quest, they should return in two days at most." he said and asked once more "Do you think that's enough."

'If I can finish it in two days then yes.' he thought and just nodded at Mike.

Returning home

Alex felt a soul that had been following him from the moment he left the guild, he even thought that it was Lisa but the soul was just too great. Panicking a little he knew that he shouldn't return home or the little one and Ava would be put in danger. Turning into an alley he waited.

Minutes passed as he even sat down but after some time he asked "Are you going to just stay hidden."

"Huh, so you did sense me." a sexy voice came from nowhere as a figure appeared in front of Alex's field of vision. A short-haired beauty with emerald eyes and a lustful body that fit her with what she wore cultivating him near. But sensing her soul he felt something familiar from this girl and a memory popped up.

A soul signal is something that makes every soul different from the others like a Mark everyone is born with. By recording that mark Alex can know whose who even without seeing their appearance and he inquired, "So how did you find me."

"Huh..... you noticed me with a single glare impressive," she exclaimed and further said "Not many people possess those eyes.

'How can he sense me, am I lacking in my skills? I do remember wearing a mask how did he..... that's not important.' she wondered staring at the figure that had no aura.

Standing up and dusting his clothes he said, "So that's how." He sighed a little and learning that his own eyes were also a liability he asked, "Why are you following me." his calm gaze showed impatience.

Pushing her thoughts aside she said, "The people you save are in danger." those few words got Alex's attention as he signaled to continue " A child with special ability was one of them and people were eyeing the boy. To keep the boy before selling him to some powerful guy he needs to be hidden you see. And the best way to do so is hiding him in an insignificant place." she chuckled and continued

"But after what happened yesterday one of the Seven Mists named Blood Vine is hunting that group down. Not much information is known about him, but he has a 100% assassination rate without any failure so far."

"Get to the point," Alex exclaimed.

Huffing she said, "I want you to tell me where they went." her eyes became sharp.

"What if I refuse," he replied with his expression still calm.

"I know you save those people for a reason which I don't know yet. Maybe you know of the boy's ability." she said staring into Alex's eyes like a tiger staring at an insignificant ant "And there are many ways of making someone talk."

'Depending on my answer she will attack but either way, I have no reason nor the power to save those slaves.' he thought and said "Are you after the boy." his simple question wasn't answered but the killing intent was visible. She didn't want to waste any more time and was warning Alex.

'Fuck.' illusory spears already appeared behind ready to attack and she said "You don't need to know that."

'What to do.... should I just answer her but there is more to this than meant the eye. Maybe it was in the game so remember.' A few seconds passed both sides silent and Alex sighed as he smiled. His devilish handsome face became even more handsome and he responded "No."

Finishing his words the girl before him didn't even hesitate to strike, hating that her time was wasted by such a low life. A meter away the veil protected Alex but once again it was instantly destroyed. In merely a second she reached Alex but before touching his body she coughed out a mouthful of blood.

Her vision blurred as she fell to the ground beside Alex with an extreme pain courting through her whole body. "Shit, what did you do." The pain came but wasn't something she couldn't handle but the fear that he did that left her off guard.

{LV74 --> LV73}

'Just by a single level.... .'

[Activated Monarch's Curse]

He had used half of his power so he couldn't stay long in that form, jumping back and making distance between himself and her as he spoke. " But am willing to make a deal with you."

Standing up she stared daggers at her fore without knowing what happened she didn't act rashly. After some moments of consideration, she replied "Am listening." she wiped off the blood her guard still up. From thin air, silver flames appeared in front of her and she reacted by jumping back.

"It's just a soul contract."

"A soul contract." a shocked expression appeared on her face, with her thoughts running wild.

Soul contracts were the rarest contract in this whole continent, and can only be found in old ruins, and temples of the eras before. Almost everyone Powerful knew about the soul contract.

A contract that has a few that could break them and when signed those terms should be completed or otherwise. 'This can't be." she thought.

"Be quick." Alex's calm voice and expression show no resistance to using such a powerful contract. He could just create them from thin air without any problem, so everything is going fine.

Reading the context of the contract she nodded and asked "Why."

Alex just smiled and didn't reply as he walked away. The girl was left with two choices to accept or to decline. But in the end, she accepted without any hesitation staking her own life on the line. As for the thought that Alex could break the contract didn't even cross her mind.

In the end, Alex's contracts are much stronger the those from ruins so being able to break it will need the use of a large amount of soul energy. Which he isn't capable of doing yet.
