I could only loom around completely dumbfounded. I allowed him to guide me to the table lit by a single candle. A small picnic basket sat in the middle.
All of this seemed so surreal.
He'd done all this for me?
/"How-why?/" I stuttered over my words, trying to get some sort of explanation.
His gaze trained on me from across the table. /"I wanted to make you happy. And looking at your reaction right now, it was totally worth it./"
My eyes widened.
Why was he doing this?
Why now?
His voice interrupted my thoughts. /"Stop questioning everything. Stop thinking so much./"
I sighed. /"I can't do that./"
His expression became solemn. /"Why can't you just let yourself be happy for a change? You start overthinking every good thing that ever happens. It's like you don't want to be happy anymore./"
My expression hardened. /"You don't get it./"
