Chapter 13: New Ally

It's a total chaos.

Adventurers are being killed mercilessly by the banshees that I summoned. They can't even inflict any damage on the monsters.

While I'm standing in front of Neerial, protecting her from any attacks coming from the adventurers.

Kleigh, who has blood on his face, stands in front of me. He pointed his blade in my direction, planning to bring me down.

"If I kill you, those monsters will go away, right?" he asked.

I looked at him with pity. He tried fighting the banshees, but to no avail. He just received lethal damage from the attack of the banshees.

"Stalling for time is useless; I know you ordered some men to deliver their message to the guild. But guess what? Before we head here, I have set up a barrier surrounding the whole dark forest," I said.

The barrier is meant for the werewolf. I learned from my mistake when I let it get away, so I made sure the next attempt would be the last.

It's just a coincidence that the barrier became useful in another way.

Kleigh is surprised at how I made his plan fail without any effort at all. He just let out a smile and looked at the night sky.

"Hey kid, you. You have a level far greater than mine, right?" Kleigh said without turning his eyes away from the sky.

"Maybe." I said.

He didn't move his head, but his eyes looked in my direction.

"You're the special gifted guy that obtained five classes, aren't you?!" he screamed.

This feels uncomfortable, seeing Kleigh slowly being eaten by madness. The banshees gave him a lethal amount of damage.

"I'm not." I lied.

"You liar, I can tell. Or are you the guy with three classes?!" Kleigh continued.

I knew it; the news about me and Karma had already spread around the human continent. I've made the correct decision to hide my true name from the guild.

"I have only two classes, summoner and mage." I lied again.

"You liar! That's not the way a mage usually fights! You're not a mage! Your fighting style is similar to a fighter trading blows with a monster!" He rants.

"You're wrong." I lied even further.

The reason I'm having this conversation is because I'm trying to not let him look at what's happening behind him.

Souls from the adventurers are being sucked one after another by the banshees. Only a few adventurers are standing on their feet. However, they can't do anything against it.

The banshees took away their lives like it was nothing; it's the same with the adventurers that tried to run away.

All of the adventurers that the guild hall has sent here have been killed by my summons.

Kleigh's body has fallen to the ground, passing away due to the damage he took. The only one who caused all of this to happen is me.

I looked at my palm and realized my level had increased. By killing all these adventurers, my level had increased by miles!

Klay Panthor [Level 203]

I'm not sure if I should be happy or fall into despair. I killed all these adventurers for my own gain.

"Christ, what have you done?"

Neerial, sitting on the ground, said this with a scared look in her eyes.

"I killed them to save you," I said.

She grabbed my shirt harshly and forced me to look into her eyes. Pulling me closer to her, intimidating me with her gaze.

"Why?! I didn't ask for any help! You could've just let me die! I'm nothing! I'm worthless!"

I didn't do anything and just stayed silent.

"Why?! Why aren't you saying anything?"

"Then what should I be supposed to do?" I couldn't help it anymore.

"I made a promise that I would protect you! I will do anything just to keep you safe!" I added.

I couldn't contain these feelings anymore; I've tried to ignore all the suffering and things that happened to me. But I can't! Those terrifying things that happened to me and all those responsibilities that I ran away from. I can't hold them anymore!

It's hard! This five-class gift is not a blessing! It's a curse! Why did this curse choose me to be its wielder?!

I don't want to be a weapon! I just want to go on adventures and see the world with my own eyes!

My eyes turned into Neerial, tears falling through my eyes. I tried to grip my teeth, trying to hold my tears, but I failed. I hold her in my arms tightly.

"I don't want to lose any comrades anymore! Compared to these adventurers, your life is much more important to me! Even if you're a monster, I've already accepted you as an ally!" I screamed, letting out what I felt.

Neerial didn't say any words. But instead, she returned my hug with a hug of her own. We held each other for a while. Embracing each other under the night sky, in the glow of the beautiful moonlight.

"Hey, are you really okay with this?" Neerial asked me as if wanting approval.

"I do; I'm not regretting anything," I replied.

As of today, I'm now a murderer. I took the lives of adventurers to save the single life of my comrade.

We're making the banshees here take the blame. Therefore, I have to act like I was damaged by them and successfully eradicated them.

I've ordered the banshees to attack me, and they gave me convincing injuries that can be proof of their attack.

I killed the three banshees with my own hands and obtained the cloth as proof of their existence.

Making all of my story become the truth.

I head back to the Wyourld City, with Neerial supporting me by putting my shoulder around hers.

The guard spotted us and helped us get into the guild hall. I told them that the cause of the missing cases in the dark forest were banshees. I explained to them that all of the adventurers died when we fought them.

Reni believed me and accepted all of my lies. They recovered all the bodies in the forest, and without a doubt, they were indeed killed by banshees.

53 adventurers, to be exact, lost their lives in this incident.

Neerial and I also received promotion for completing the quest.

Our location now is at the inn where we're currently staying. inside Neerial's room.

I made a soundproof barrier to make sure nobody overhears our conversation.

"Alright, now explain to me why you did all of those killings," I said while standing, leaning against the wall.

"My werewolf form comes out twice in a week. I couldn't help it, and it just randomly pops out. I'm not myself when I becomes a werewolf, but I remember all it does when I return into my human form," she explained.

I didn't say anything and let her continue with her story.

She came from a race called Lycanthrope; her kind lives somewhere on the demon continent. However, her family was hunted by humans, who kidnapped them to be sold at slavery auctions.

Similar to what she told me back then, a human rescued them, and her kind saved her through a river.

Neerial doesn't know if any of her family members are still alive. That's the end of her story.

"What about your level? How come your level is abnormally high for an adventurer?" I asked.

"My level? I'm only level 130; this is considered low in my hometown," Neerial said with calmness.

Meanwhile, my eyes are in shock. Thinking deeply, if I heard her correctly, I approached her and held her shoulders with both of my hands.

"Low? Low?! Level 130 is considered low?!" I asked her, and I couldn't contain my surprise.

"Yep, our chief is level 450. And somehow some humans have defeated him easily." Neerial said it like it was not a big deal.

I suddenly smacked my head, realizing my mistake! I can't get over this! All the things I did are wrong! I was such a fool for being content with my current level!

I didn't even consider the possibility that there's even more strength than my current level.

I also realized another thing.

So, that means If we had waited for backup on the 114th floor, someone might have saved us.

Realizing this, I gripped my hair tightly, screaming at the top of my lungs. Neerial immediately went beside me and tried to calm me down.

I sat on the floor, heavily breathing, remembering all the things that happened in the dungeon. All of those sufferings, all of those fears, and all of those deaths. It can be avoided if we just waited patiently for rescuers.

I'm still naive! I'm still arrogant! I'm still...

Weak!
