Chapter 5: The reunion

KENDALL'S POV -

It was afternoon when I finally reached Hexford. After completing my admission process I had been assigned to my dorm, ROOM NO. 15 .

I made a beeline towards one of the three empty beds in the room upon entering it. As soon as I laid down on the bed, my mind began to drift to my mission.

Although I had a little advantage to that, I could somehow feel Luce Mia's presence sometimes.

And as the days to the prophecy lessened, my powers began to increase significantly.

It had been my idea to look for her here as all the unusual creatures of Luce Mia's age in the city would be here as well as the records of the previous students.

Then I felt something in my chest. A warmth radiating through my entire body.

Luce Mia was close, I discerned.

I bolted from the bed and was about to turn the doorknob when I heard an audible "OH SHIT!", from the other side. 'Probably one of my two roommates.' , I thought.

But......wait a second, it couldn't be!

I hurriedly opened the door and saw a girl picking up her belongings from the ground. Then I saw that she had dropped some books and a suitcase sat nearby. As soon as she gathered her things and stood up to face me, I hugged her tight, thus making her books fall on the ground. Again.

It was Miranda.

MIRANDA'S POV -

After completing my registration process, I was shown to my dorm, ROOM NO. 15.

The clerk, after showing me the directions to my room, had left me at the beginning of the straight corridor, informing me that the room at the end was mine and one of my roomates had already arrived.

I struggled to open the door with my hands full of books and my mind fearing the loss of my two best friends; as my books fell on the ground.

"OH SHIT! ", I cursed out aloud before picking them up as the door opened.

'Oh perfect first impression for my new roommate.', I thought sarcastically.

But as soon as I got up, I was hugged by Kendall. I almost screamed in happiness as I hugged her back and paid no mind to my again fallen books. Then she picked up books and we headed inside.

After chatting with her for a bit, I noticed her continuous glances towards the door and remembered that she had opened the door without my knocking. I figured that she probably had to go somewhere and teasingly said to her," I will not keep you here any longer. You can go on your date then."

She looked flustered as she answered,"No it's nothing like that." I had to try harder to suppress a chuckle as her cheeks grew red. " Just teasing your stupid ass.", I said in mock amusement.

She rolled her eyes saying," Whatever." and left.

With nothing to do, I decided to fall asleep. After having to listen to my mother's lecturing throughout the entire ride and promising to not break the thousands of rules that she had placed on me, I was tired to my core.

I smirked to myself and thought, 'But how will she know even if I happen to break some. After all, she isn't here.' before I finally let sleep consume me.

A few hours later :

I woke up when I heard a high pitched squeal in my room. As the blurriness in my still sleepy eyes receded, I saw who it was before a soft gasp escaped my mouth.

It was Samarah.

She raced towards me and hugged me. I hugged her back.

KENDALL'S POV -

I shuffled out of my room as soon as I could.

Happy as I was to see Miranda but I had missed LUCE MIA! I hoped that events like this would not repeat in the future. That I wouldn't have friendship distract me from my duty. I couldn't.

Then an alarming thought crossed my mind.

She was among the few humans on this campus which was filled with mystical beings. I wasn't sure whether to celebrate being with my friend or to worry that sooner or later, she might find herself exposed to the secrets of a world which she wasn't even aware existed.

I was deep in my thoughts when I got a strange but familiar smell. One that I hadn't got in ages only to have it receeding again.

'Strange', I thought as I wasn't able to pinpoint the exact source of the smell. Nevertheless, I continued on my search for Luce Mia as I scoured the campus the second time, trying to get any sign of her, perhaps that feeling again but I couldn't.

Instead I decided to head back to my room.On entering it, I immediately smelled someone else's presence there.When the bathroom door opened my mouth fell open.

Standing there smiling was Samarah.

SAMARAH'S POV -

I watched amusedly as Kendall's mouth fell agape and Miranda sat giggling on the bed.

I swiftly closed the distance between us and held her in an embrace. Her hands sat on my shoulders for sometime before she broke apart and gasped,"Wow!!"

This had also been my initial reaction when I saw Miranda and found out about Kendall.

Kendall broke the silence first saying," Let alone the room, I never thought that we three could end up getting into the same college. It's like a dream come true."

Her thoughts echoed our own.

I smirked a little as I said," You are not getting rid of me that easily." , followed by Miranda's soft giggle and Kendall's boisterous laughs.

No one knew how the time had passed so fast as we reminisced about our school days until the old grandfather clock in our room reminded us with a 'dong' that it was 1 am.

Then all of us decided to call it quits for the day.

I went to my bed towards the window area where I saw a shadow walk past. I believed I was hallucinating from exhaustion as there was no way in hell that anyone would walk past my window on the fifth floor.

I quickly jumped on my bed and closed my eyes letting sleep take ahold of me.
