CHAPTER 51

The guests scurried outside following the terrified woman's lead and they all gasped when their eyes narrowed to the crushed body of a woman lying on the floor covered in a pool of blood.

"What happened?" "Did she fall?" "Oh my God!" The guests murmured with a horrid look on their faces. Dae Hyun quickly phoned 911.

"I wonder what happened." Cha Eun said under his breath as he averted his gaze from the horrific sight but Yoo Na just stared at it blankly. She recognized the dead woman's dress because she saw her leave after Dae Hyun and Min Hye but she wasn't sure she was following them but she'd keep her eyes and ears open in the meantime as sh observed everyone.

The guests were ushered back into the hall by the police when they arrived as they cleared the crime scene from public eyes to avoid circulation of unnecessary rumours. The police questioned the woman who found the body but she had no reliable information for them. It was hard to identify the woman from her disfigured corpse but they found her belongings beside her and identified her as So Ra before putting her in a body bag and wheeling her into the ambulance but the police stayed behind as they investigated the crime scene.

The party had to abruptly end as a result of the tragedy that had taken place and for the police to easily carry out their investigations, so the guests dispatched to their various homes. Dae Hyun and Min Hye as well as the Chairman, his daughter and the highschool kids were still present.

"The dead body has been identified as So Ra." A police officer informed the Chairman before left.

"She was an employee at the company, Sir." Dae Hyun explained to the Chairman and he nodded.

"Of all the nights, a death had to take place on this important one and at the event." The Chairman complained in frustration. His son rolled his eyes inwardly, he didn't care about his dead employee, all he cared about was his stupid event. The Chairman couldn't care about the dead body found since it was neither a conglomerate or an aristocrat or someone of a high social status but merely an employee, so it didn't bother him much.

"Don't say that Dad, someone just died, her life mattered." Mi Ra said thoughtfully and Cha Eun was glad he had his sister around, she was kind hearted and she had always put the consideration of others first and they had been quite close as kids.

"You're right, since she's an employee, we should arrange a burial ceremony for her." Dae Hyun chipped in and Mi Ra smiled at him, thinking he was a considerate person.

"You both are a perfect fit, you should hurry up and become my son in law." The Chairman said with a short chuckle and Mi Ra blushed shyly as she didn't see Dae Hyun as a bad match, he was good looking, polite and kind but she wanted to get to know him better. Cha Eun personally thought having Dae Hyun as part of the family would have been a great idea since they were very close.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you Sir but I'm engaged." He said as he entwined his long fingers with Min Hye's and raised it up, showing them the beautiful diamond ring seated on her finger perfectly.

The Chairman was surprised as well as the others as their eyes stared at the ring and then at the stoic woman. 'So he left to propose' Yoo Na thought as she stared at the ring with a stoic expression.

Mi Ra felt a bit down as she saw that Dae Hyun already had a fiancee, she gave a wry smile to the poker faced lady as she congratulated her.

"Congratulations." Mi Ra said but Min Hye knew better than anyone that she wasn't truly happy as she stared into her eyes. Min Hye slightly bowed in silence.

"What's your name young woman?" The Chairman asked.

"Min Hye, sir." She replied blankly.

"Miss I'll give you a hundred million won if you leave Dae Hyun for my daughter." The Chairman said, twisting his words into a joke but she knew it wasn't. Cha Eun's brows creased when he heard his father, as much as he wanted Dae Hyun to be a part of their family, he'd never had made such an insane suggestion.

Yoo Na watched the drama before her in silence while Mi Ra waited patiently for the woman's reply and deep down, she hoped she'd agree to the offer as she had taken a liking to Dae Hyun already.

Dae Hyun pushed his glasses up a bit at the Chairman's tempting offer but he knew Min Hye enough to know that she didn't care about money or material things.

"Your offer would only tempt a fool and I'm not a fool." They heard Min Hye say and a grin cut through Dae Hyun's lips as he squeezed her palm in his gently. The Chairman was taken aback by her words and Mi Ra pressed her lips in a thin line uncomfortably while Cha Eun was impressed by her retort against his father's offer but Yoo Na had anticipated her reply so she wasn't surprised as the lady had a no nonsense personality.

"You're only a fool if you decline that kind of offer worth hundred of millions." The Chairman said and Dae Hyun felt the urge to bash the old man's head into a wall till his head burst but he maintained a blank expression.

"Dae Hyun's worth hundred of millions to you but he's irreplaceable to me, so how can I replace him with money?" Min Hye asked rhetorically with a hint of mockery heard in her voice and the Chairman chuckled darkly at her words. He wanted Dae Hyun to marry his daughter because he was extremely good at his job and he had multiplied the company's wealth over the years and taken care of his illegal activities which he thought was an act of loyalty for a refined young man as Dae Hyun to clean up after him and take care of his crimes and then even if he gave the company to Dae Hyun, it'd still end up in his lineage and not in a stranger's.

"You're right, I shouldn't have let you snatched Dae Hyun so quickly then, what a shame." The Chairman said with a glint in his eyes but Min Hye didn't reply anymore. Dae Hyun was familiar with the glint in his eyes and he knew the Chairman wasn't going to give up so soon, he knew him too well and he knew he'd go to extreme lengths to get what he wanted as he was aware of his illegal activities as well as murder in the fight for power. He knew how much of a valuable liability he was to the company and with a brain like his, the Chairman would want him to get married to his daughter and become the Chairman, knowing it'd take the company to greater heights and it wouldn't end up in the hands of a stranger, even though he had a son but Cha Eun wasn't an option as the successor of the company since he hated business and the relationship between him and his father was built on a rough surface.

"We should get going now, it's late. Cha Eun be a gentleman and drop Yoo Na home." Dae Hyun said with a charming smile.

"Yes, I will." Cha Eun said, he was glad his father hadn't noticed Yoo Na because of his focus on Dae Hyun as his father would have started asking questions about who the girl was and what her background status was.

"Yoo Na, I'll see you at the office tomorrow, we have a meeting." Dae Hyun said to her before she left and she understood what he meant.

"All right." She said as she nodded.

"Goodnight then and congratulations on your engagement." Cha Eun said as he got ready to leave.

"Thank you, you'll be my best man, right?" Dae Hyun said with an excited laugh.

"Of course, if I don't do it, then who will?" He asked rhetorically and Dae Hyun beamed a smile at him as he exited the hall.

"Good night Sir, we're leaving now." Dae Hyun said as he bowed politely at Mi Ra and the chairman as well as Min Hye before taking their leave.

Dae Hyun's smile dropped as soon as they got into the car.

"Pack your things immediately and move in with me." Dae Hyun said sternly with a serious look on his face. Min Hye stared at him for a second as she knew that something was wrong.

"Why all of a sudden?" She queried curiously.

"The chairman is going to try to kill you." He said in between gritted teeth, obviously suppressing his anger and her brows knitted in confusion.

"What?"
