Chapter 1Crossing Over

A state of paralysis envelops Feng Ye.

Darkness and nihility span across the void in all directions.

Endless darkness.

A single thought appears in the youth's mind, "Am I dead?" As he slowly feels lightheaded and is about to faint, a cold systematic voice resounds in his mind.

System: "Congratulations to the host. System Binding Successful! Instability of space detected- transporting host to a stable space."

Feng Ye awakens and quickly realizes that he has regained the ability to move. With a startled jump, he starts sizing up the environment only to be welcomed by four shabby wooden walls, a worn down wooden desk, office chair and a bed. A curtain blocks a single window in the room which faces away from where the desk and office chair are located.

Feng Ye starts yelling in his mind, "WHAT THE FFF!?"

"Where am I? Shouldn't I be dead? Wtf?" Thoughts of uncertainty, alarm and of fear well up in Feng Ye's mind as memories of the darkness and nihility send a chill up his spine. As he takes a moment to think of his present situation, Feng Ye is relieved that he did not express his shock vocally in this unknown environment.

He takes a seat on the office chair and recalls what had just occurred. Feng Ye was walking to the bus stop to go home when suddenly, a crack in the space in front of him appears and slowly expands like the hatching of a chicken out of an egg. A powerful force of attraction immediately pulls him into the dark crevice. Before Feng Ye could calm down, he was surrounded by darkness and nihility only to faint.

This leads to the present situation. "Is this crossing over in legend? At least I have a system so I still have a chance."

"System- what's going on?" Feng Ye inquires in his mind.

A screen appears in his mind, titled Main Menu with four options. System Status, Host Status, Store and Settings with the last two options non interactable.

Main Menu

-System Status

-Host Status

-Store[x]

-Settings[x]

Feng Ye, in his mind, selects the System Status option first and is greeted with a new screen.

System Status

Total Energy - 10% Energy Remaining

Recovery Rate - 5% per day

System Log - View System Logs

His expression becomes a startled one. "View System Logs."

System Log

0:00 Binding to Host Successful

0:01 Detection of Space Instability

0:05 Shifting Host to Stable Space (90% of Energy Utilized)

0:06 Self Diagnostic Test Booting Up

0:08 Energy Recovery Program Initiated

0:10 Energy Minimization Initiated

0:10 Shutting down non-essential functions until Total Energy reaches 50%

3:04 Detection of Host Inquiry

3:06 Gift on First Meeting Parcel sent to Host Inventory under Host Status

"I really am a lucky one to be able to coincidentally be able to bind to the system. I would have had to pass away in that gloomy place." Unfortunately, from the System Log the system is in a state of energy recovery which has restricted its non-core features. In 8 days, he would be able to use the rest of the features.

Feng Ye then recalls the Main Menu and selects the only other available option, Host Status.

Looking at the attributes in his mind, only a single thought appears, "Mediocre"

Feng Ye is an athletic individual who spends a lot of time as a competitive swimmer in his high school years. Although, as a university student, he no longer has time to be apart of the competitive scene, he still has not neglected the sport. Due to his athletic background, Feng Ye has strength and vitality of 10 points.

Unfortunately, as an asian he is only 5'8 and is not as tall as others which would explain his speed being a mere 5 points. At least he isn't classified as an idiot with 15 intelligence..

As a light novel and anime enthusiast, Feng Ye has also read his fair share of reincarnation and transmigration novels. "Abilities….. I wonder what kind of gift the system will give a beginner such as me."

Feng Ye immediately displays a solemn look and kneels down in the worn down room.

"RNG-sama, please give me a good ability so I don't get screwed over."

"System Open Inventory."

System: 1 X Gift Parcel detected. Has host determined to open?

"Open!"

System:

1 X Backpack

1 X Set of 20 Skill Points

1 X Random Ability

1 X Laser Pointer

"Okay, the items seem pretty standard. At least these items are reasonable. No complaints."

Feng Ye immediately opens the backpack only to discover it is his original backpack that he was wearing before crossing over. All the familiar contents help relieve his startled mind. He still has his wallet, cell phone, notes, and stationary materials. Although the cell phone has no signal, the normal features still work.

Feng Ye immediately starts to allocate the skill points.

"Right now, I am a pitiful weak existence. I should add 10 points to STR, 5 to SPD and 5 to INT. By raising INT, it should help my mind sharpen considerably which can help me make more effective allocations in the future."

Feng Ye, after allocating the skill points, immediately uses the Random Ability item. An uncontrollable pressure arises from within his mind for several seconds.

System: Congratulations to the host. Host has obtained ability- Hidden Wanderer.

When the feeling leaves him, Feng Ye opens his attribute panel again.

Hidden Wanderer (LVL 1)- The ability to disguise as another individual perfectly.

Limitations: Only applies to the everyday individuals with no peculiar abilities.

Upgrading this skill permits host to disguise as individuals who are stronger than the everyday individual. Next upgrade requires 5 AP.

Host Inventory

"Hidden Wanderer is a pretty decent skill. As I am pretty much alone in this world with no information, it will make information gathering easier. Unfortunately, I didn't draw out some earth shattering ability like sharingan from Naruto, or vector manipulation from A Certain Magical Index. Feelsbadman."

After peering through the curtains and taking a brief look outside. Feng Ye was shocked. It seems to be dark outside. A brief glance at his phone indicates that the current time is 1:32 AM. Besides the darkened sky, a brightly lit city demonstrates its magnificence. From his room, Feng Ye noticed that he is in the suburbs of the city. Such a city made Feng Ye think as though he had travelled into the future. Shiny towers reflecting office lights are even distributed throughout the city. Fast subways of transportation zoom throughout the metropolis. Screens reflecting the weather conditions flicker throughout.

"Wow…."

With his worldview broadened, Feng Ye decides to properly explore the next day. After a night of rest, his first step into the new world begins.

Opening the door of his room, a new journey awaits in front of him. Little did Feng Ye know that the beginning of a New Era is about to begin.

Reincarnated To Evolve My Bee Empire

"Now, go forth, my mortal champion! Conquer this world—or else!" I lived a painfully average life and died by a stupid, stupid accident, but a goddess interfered, giving me a second chance in another world. There, I became royalty—the lazy kind with almost no obligations, free to live in peace and luxury for the rest of my days. Sounds like a dream, right? In reality, it was anything but—because I became *BEE* royalty. A Drone Bee, doomed to die of old age in 2 months! (A humanoid bee, thankfully, but still a bee in all the ways that matter.) The only way to increase my lifespan is to develop and grow my bee colony—a deadly task in a vicious world like this one. There are murderous insect monsters, colossal beasts trampling the earth, other civilizations, natural disasters, and the bitchy patron goddess who absolutely hates me. But as long as I have my brains, my bees, and the powerful genes my system gives me, my Bee Empire will be unstoppable! === For those who want to know more: This is a wholesome comedic story, but it has some dark moments. The focus is on kingdom building, survival as an empire, and interacting with MC’s beautiful bee wife and adorable bee daughters. The bees are all humanoid (see pictures) and human-sized. However, they are still bees in their ways of life and mentality. Although there’s a system, real growth comes from putting effort and time. Nothing happens in an instant in this story, unless it’s trouble. MC acts like an idiot sometimes (oftentimes), but he’s not actually stupid-stupid. When it comes to strategic decisions, he uses logic and reason. Even if you might disagree with it. Also, there will be no smut (ecchi is a fair game), incest, NTR, harem or BL. === Discord is up! Find it at -> https://linktr.ee/Garessta Updates: 2 chapters/day, right after the reset (with a 5% chance of running late). Reply to author's pinned review if you have questions. Also, although I realize the futility of this aim (at least right now), if this novel reaches top 15 golden ticket ranking (and stays there for a few days, obv), I will mass release 10 extra chapters! For a budding novel, the writing quality and grammar is definitely better and much more developed than other novels I find on Webnovel. I will be tearing into some points I found that might need improvement, and so some harshness will appear. So, the beginning of the novel. A decent pull, with an incident of paralysis of the main character, and the notion of dying and transmigrating into another world. However, the first chapter rings a severe alarm bell in my mind, and it would tell me to immediately drop it if such a problem isn't fixed in the later chapters: the lack of development, the all-accepting character archetype, and the systematic process of tell then show. First off, the novel transitions from an empty, open-ended background to an isolated environment, of which I take as either the "system's dimension" or the gateway between reincarnation. Just from the wording alone, the transition itself is rather choppy and sudden. The character jumps at the sound of an overhead voice in his mind, only to find himself in a new environment. There is no description of a transfer process, and the environment is rather vague in description, something that can be utilized to the author's advantage in world-building only if it is to be used again. That alone signals to me that if additional description isn't provided in the later chapters, the novel might as well be a can of dialogue. Next, the character is loosely developed, and is far too accepting of sudden transitions. When I state far too accepting as the character archetype, this is based off of how a "system" suddenly intrudes in his mind, and he doesn't panic except for the initial moment. Then he's accepting of it, and suddenly is capable of manipulating the system and requesting information as if he's used it for years. There's no description of the befuddlement or denial that ordinary characters would experience under such a circumstance, and even if he was described as an anime enthusiast, everything seems a bit rushed. The anime enthusiast trait should be carefully compounded in him slowly going over his memories of how the "system" seemed similar to the ones he had seen in the novels he read or the shows he watched. This also applies to the additional traits that the Main Character is supposed to have. A special trait pertaining to an ability is introduced, and then we have a snapshot of the main character having an occupation or hobby that related to that ability. No reminiscence, or compounded development, instead tossing them out as independent constructs. Although I can understand them to have relation, as the main character does possess the background to be familiar with such an experience or ability, the chapter doesn't introduce such a background or relationship at all, or does it rather poorly. Instead of writing that he had a background, a few more chapters flashing back to his previous life and especially the specified hobby or occupation will do wonders in developing the character and story (as the main character is a human). The main character being unfazed when facing an unknown or extraordinary experience is only acceptable if it's just an external appearance. The notion of experiencing teleportation should be accompanied with internal fear and panic at the very least, even if the character displays an indifferent, know-it-all expression. After all, the idea of human teleportation only existed in fantasy in the main character's previous life. Another error that would require revision is the story development and world background. As a transmigration novel, it is indeed acceptable to introduce a plethora of unknown, undefined concepts and ideas as long as they are explained or defined in the novel later on. However, after stepping into the "new world", where does the main character appear? What does the surroundings look like? In the novel, we have the main character step into an apartment building. He steps forth to exit, and quickly leaves. That's it. We don't know what the apartment looks like, whether it was different in some fashion to the ones in Earth, be it in structure, room design, or even the color of the wall. And instead of marveling at the new world and it's possible similarities or differences, the main character is only happy that nobody recognized him as a robber. It's just too sudden, and choppy to read. The other elements of the plot are also rushed. How does he fare in the examination? Just what questions did they ask, were they similar to the ones the main character faced? It seems like instead of the main character transmigrating, he's trapped in a dream. Everything is so vague, that it would require far too much imagination to construe a proper explanation or idea of what's being described or introduced in the novel. The flaws in world background stem to the lack of definition. I won't go into the rest of the novel's flaws, this should help you locate the rest of them and determine if you want to correct it or not. Since the novel only has 11 chapters, an overhaul to improve the character development, plot placing and world development would vastly improve the quality and appreciation of the novel. Overall, it's still a good read, and better than a good chunk of the ones I've seen on Webnovel so far. I'd add as a tip that whenever the system speaks, place the contents within [ ] to make it more distinguishable to the reader, especially if you have larger quantities of dialogue in the chapter. Good work!
