Chapter 59: Talks to Baste Prison
~Third POV~
Meanwhile in Baste Dungeon inside the interior of the prison two guards that were guarding the entrance to Ban's Cell started speaking with Guard 1 asking the other Guard 2, "Did you hear about what happened at Fort Solgres?"
Guard 2 curtly nodded his head intrigued by the news replied in a curious tone, "Yeah. It was reduced to a pile of rubble overnight."
Guard 1 confirmed the rumors answering Guard 2 surprising him with the news with widened eyes underneath his helmet, "Turns out the guy responsible was the leader of The Seven Deadly Sins."
Guard 2 answered in a startled shocked tone, "H-he's alive?!"
Guard 1 nodded his head crossing his arms as Guard 2 asked in worried in a scared tone gesturing towards Ban inside the cell, "Ins't that bad news for us? We've got one of his men locked up in here. A… are we going to be okay?"
Generally right to be afraid Guard 1 answered his worried ally in a confident tone reassured by their defenses, "Don't be so scared. The prison is a fort, built for just such an attack. Not even The Seven Deadly Sins can touch this place. Not to mention… the four very best of the Kingdom's Holy Knights The Weird Fangs are here! I doubt they'd risk so much danger just to save this guy."
Guard 2 soon answered feeling relieved of their defenses and regaining his confidence but gazed at the cell pitying the former legend, "Heh heh. You said it. Ever since he was captured by the Weird Fangs 5 years ago he hasn't seen the light of day once. He hasn't been allowed to move, let alone speak. He's never even been given a single decent meal. He's only been constantly tortured until death finally does him in. To be honest, it's amazing that he's even still alive. I pity the legend called the Fox Sin of Greed."
"Hmmm…"
"Hmm…"
But soon enough Guard 1 asked in a confused tone looking around trying to find the source of the humming sound, "Hm? Where's that humming coming from?"
Unaware of where the source is located Ban just hummed while being pinned, gagged, and whistled a tune.

~Mash B. POV~
While Mana Hawk walked our way to Baste Prison, I took this time sparing with Meliodas learning more about swordsmanship under a proper master. Safe to say…
*WHACK*
[-100 HP]
I'm getting my ass handed to me as Meliodas manages to beat my ass. Currently, I don't have my [Flowing Battle] active to nullify blunt damage because I was training on top of Mama Hawk.
[<Sword Mastery> LEVEL UP!]
I can't exactly transfer damage to the ground now. Sweating and bruised up from the spar against Meliodas he grinned cheekily at my results, "Not bad. But you could become a Holy Knight in the future Mash. Especially with your Druid healing capabilities."
Using my [Healing Magic] to recover my HP seeing the results being [50/950 HP]. Damn… now that makes me feel sad. All it takes for Meliodas to get me this weakened even with my [Willpower] skill was a few hits.
And that's him HOLDING back. If he went all out, I would've been one-tapped out of my existence. I have a long way before becoming strong that's for sure and reassuring to me at least.
Keeps me from being arrogant and cocky with guys like Meliodas and others around. Standing up I explained to Meliodas I'm not a hippy Druid with a frown, "I keep saying to you guys already I'm not a hippie-loving Druid. I'm just a guy that happens to know a lot of fancy spells is all."
Meliodas raised an eyebrow at me. I mentally rolled my eyes because I'm able to do [Healing Magic] in this world they assume that I'm a Druid one of the very few races that can cast [Healing Magic].
Druids mostly are forest-dwelling people who worship the Goddess Clan while despising the Demon Clan, although Meliodas seems to be the exception for being an ally. Some of them act like priests in marriage celebrations.
They are insular due to living away from most other people but are referred to as the philosophers and sorcerers of the forest. When a person dies, it is customary for them to guard the buried corpses to prevent any possession of evil spirits.
Druids have many secret techniques which is why they assume I'm one. Some of those techniques include healing.
By channeling their power, Druids can use the power of nature to heal grievous wounds that are considered fatal. This power has the opposite effect on demons when not controlled enough, hurting them and repelling their power.
This technique is like the [Invigorate] technique from the Goddess Clan, although its power pales in comparison to that of the Goddesses. But that's beside the point with Meliodas simply shrugging…
Fuck it. I think I'll let them accept it for now, but Meliodas soon left me behind heading back inside the tavern with a satisfied grin, "Will call practice done for now. Hopefully, we will reach the Town of Dalmally soon. From there it should be 8 miles northeast of Baste Dungeon. Till then I think Elizabeth needs me. Toddles!"
Leaving me alone I sighed as Diane had been watching us spar to pass the time as I checked out Meliodas's description. [Observe].
[Meliodas Lv.? Dragon Sin of Wrath
Description: Meliodas is the Dragon's Sin of Wrath who leads the Seven Deadly Sins and is the owner of the renowned tavern Boar Hat. His Sacred Treasure is the Demon Sword Lostvayne and his inherent power is [Full Counter]. He was also the head of the Ten Commandments, as Meliodas the Love, and a former member of Stigma after his defection from the Demon Clan.]
Sighing… very strong. Can't even see his level and I doubt I'll ever see it.
Returning to healing the wounds on my body getting a level up from my [Healing Magic] I asked Diane seeing her gaze at our spar in a curious tone, "Is your Captain always holding back in fights? I mean I can feel he was holding back on me?"
Hearing my question Diane thought about my question before shrugging and answering me in an unsure tone, "Hmm… I'm not sure. I didn't even realize that the captain was holding back. But I guess you were too weak that he had to baby you in his sparing with you."
Ack! I felt that one.
But it's not untrue before sighing out loud pouting before bringing up my curiosity about her seemingly catching her off guard, "Aww… man. Here I thought my progression was good. Sigh… moving on Diane I'm curious about you. I was wondering if you can answer a few questions of mine."
Being caught off guard Diane regained her composure before asking clearing her voice as shot a glare at him, "Ahem! Uhm… sure. But if you ask about a lady's weight then better be prepared for the consequences buster!"
Making her point raising her fist I nodded unphased as I asked her more about the Giant's Race in a curious tone, "Point noted. But I wasn't asking about that. I was wondering if you could talk more about the Giant Clan. I'm quite curious about them."
Blinking at the sudden interest in her race she shrugged her shoulders answering my question to the best of her ability bringing a smile to her face, "Huh? Sure, I guess. But it's pretty little about us you probably don't already know. Where to start…"
She soon explained to me the situations of the Giants as this piqued my interest and no doubt Beatrice's later down the line. The Giants lived for battle and were often hired by humans of different kingdoms to provide them with the battles to fight as mercenaries.
As a result, however, the Giant Clan's status is currently in danger due to deaths in battle they could find. Giants also live in the world of Midgard of Yggdrasil where they reside in Jotunnheim but Ymir's wall blocked the giants out for thousands of years.
Giants for being a wild race, slaves to their power and knowing nothing other than inflicting pain on each other. In Britannia, their societies are led by great warrior chiefs. According to the myths, Drole was a highly respected ancestor of the Giant Clan, having developed a sacred dance with deep connections to nature and earth.
3,000 years ago, the Giant Clan allied with the Goddess Clan, Fairy Clan, and humans and fought against the Demon Clan and won with the Coffin of Eternal Darkness sealing the defeated demons.
After explaining everything that she knew I nodded a bit impressed by their nature as I asked if she had other friends, "Cool… sounds like you Giants had an interesting culture. But I must ask did you have any other Giant friends before you joined The Seven Deadly Sins?"
Upon asking my question her expression shifted with a sad smile as she explained to me having a friend once in a depressed tone looking down on the ground, "Yeah… I had a friend named Matrona but she's no longer around. She lost her life when the Holy Knights of Liones as mercenaries with their Captain Gannon came to gain a reputation by killing her. The surviving members arrested me under a false crime perpetrated by the survivors of Gannon's fiasco. And then joined with the Seven Deadly Sins."
Right… I forgot that Diane doesn't know her friend is still alive. Well… might as well give her some hope.
When she asked me her question, I caught her off guard giving descriptions of her friend that seemed to surprise her, "Matrona… Matrona… where I have heard that name before… Diane by chance did Matrona have a slender body toned and muscular but retained her feminine shape. Has purple eyes and blonde hair with short bangs by chance?"
Diane blinked in surprise at my description of her with wide eyes asking me how I knew of her, "W-What the hell?! How the heck do you know what she looks like!!"
I smirked as I replied calming the situation down before she could grab me shaking me down for some answers in a calm tone, "Easy actually. Before our first meeting, I was an explorer remember? I've seen and talked to different people and places. And the person I just described happened to have the same name and appearance I met in my travels."
Thinking quickly, I also said about some changes to her making Diane's eyes realize in shock what I meant, "Although she does have one of her legs cut replaced with a wooden replacement. From what I last recall… she's living with a savage named Zalpa. I don't know where though."
Diane's eyes widened muttering to herself in disbelief seeing her reaction made me smile mentally at her words, "Wait… from that guy I saved from the spared from back then… with her leg cut off the poison didn't…"
Soon her eyes began to tear up slightly as I was surprised to hear her response in a thankful tone, "Mash… thanks. Seems like I have something to do after this."
I closed my eyes and replied to the kind maiden's doing a mock bow, "It's a pleasure lady Diane."
She merely laughed as we enjoyed our company with each other. At the very least it's pleasing to speak to someone I can help if I can.
