What I’ve Been Missing

We step back into Damien's office after the last meeting, and I can feel the adrenaline still pulsing through my veins. The day had gone better than I could've imagined. 

Every CEO who walked into those meetings didn't expect me to have a voice, but I'd made sure they left knowing I wasn't just here to sit pretty on Damien's arm. I'd stood my ground, asked the tough questions, and watched them squirm.

And Damien was calm through it all, his smirk widening every time I spoke up. He let me take the lead, never stepping in unless it was to reinforce what I'd already said. I've never experienced anything like it.

As I walk to the couch by the window, Damien shuts the door behind us, and the click of it closing feels like a signal that the day's intensity isn't over yet.
