The second rejection

Alex's eyes widened in shock as he heard Camen words, he shook his head vigorously, hoping for his words to be false. Camen tapped Alex, bringing him out of his train of thoughts.

"Why are you in a daze, I was joking. It can't be her, so don't be too worried" Camen reassured Alex, with concern laced in his voice.

Alex smiled and turned to leave for his room, he knew she could not be the uninvited guest but he wondered why his mind went to her.

Alex got to his room and Camen entered alongside Alex. Camen brought out a blank paper. He wrote some words and handed it to Alex for approval.

Alex hesitates before approving of the party.

"This is great, we only need to get ready for the party soon. It's in few days, Alpha" Camen said and left the room to inform everyone about the Lycan's King approval.

Few days later,

The Lycan king rode to the welcome party alongside his trusted men. Asher greeted him and escorted him to his seat. 

The party was in full swing, with music pulsating through the air, everyone laughed and conversed with each other.

But Alex searched through the crowd for Nova, he craved to see her badly. Unknown to Alex, Camen rolled his eyes, he knew Alex's focus was on Nova.

He disliked her the moment Alex terrorized the palace because of her. Then the dancers rushed in and began their performance.

Asher, ever the charmer, had his eyes on one of the dancers. He approached her with a sly smile, his eyes glinting with mischief. 

They exchanged a few words, his hands were busy romancing her body as he whispered sweet words to her. The dancer laughter mingled with the music 

Unknown to them, Alex had been watching them from his seat. He observed Asher's ways with disgust. His blood boiled with anger as he saw Asher pecking the dancer's lips.

He felt disgusted to know that his one and only beauty was betrothed to this womanizer. 

How could Asher, Nova's mate, do something so reckless and disgusting? It was not just the act of kissing the dancer, but the boldness and lack of consideration for Nova's feelings.

Camen glanced at Alex, he noticed his expression was blazing with fury. He traced Alex's eyes and saw Asher and the dancer. Camen shook his head as he saw Alex standing up from his seat. 

Camen knew Alex was about to punch Asher, he rushed to Alex instantly.

"What are you trying to do, Alpha? Don't do it, it's not right. She isn't your mate, then why are you helping her?" Camen said, hoping for Alex to adhere to his words.

"Camen, please leave. I need too"

Before he could finish his words, Nova entered the field, her eyes blazing with fury, her voice loud enough to cut through the music and laughter.

"ASHER! what are you doing?" Nova screamed, her voice laced with emotion. "You are my mate, how could you do this to me?"

The place fell silent, everyone seemed shocked and murmured to each other. Nova planned to tell everyone the truth about her and Asher being mates. 

But she felt disgusted to have a mate like Asher after witnessing his betrayal. Maya, standing nearby, hid her amusement. She chuckled, clearly enjoying the spectacle. 

She disliked Nova and now enjoyed the idea of Nova being humiliated. She hoped Nova would be thrown out of the party for causing a scene.

Asher, who was caught off guard by Nova's claims, turned to her with an annoyed look. He knew everyone would talk behind his back if he claim Nova's words to be true,

"Nova, you are making a fool of yourself. We are not mates, and why can't you accept that. Don't mind her words, everyone, you know she is an attention seeker. Looking for who to mate with" Alex coldly said, with a chuckle.

The words stung Nova, she shook her head in disbelief,

"Asher, don't deny it. Please, I don't care if you flirted with this dancer all I care is to tell everyone we are mates. You came to me yourself" 

Asher clenched his fist and slapped Nova across the face, the sound of the impact echoing in the silent room.

Everyone gasped with shock and they murmured to each other. Nova held her face in dismay, tears trickling down her cheeks as Asher hurled insults at her, his words cutting deeper than any physical blow.

Nova wished for this painful moment to stop. Alex, horrified by the turn of events, stood up. He held his fury deep inside, his mask hiding the anger and disgust on his face.

"Enough!" Alex shouted, his voice laced with authority that silenced everyone. "How dare you slap a woman in my face, Asher you had the audacity to disrespect me. Everyone go to your cottages now, this party is over." 

Alex glared at Asher, he was so furious that he could kill Asher at the moment, Camen rushed to his side and tried his best to calm Alex but Alex's gaze was fixated on Asher.

Asher apologized for the bad behavior and left the party alongside the guests. The festive mood shattered. Alex strode to Nova, who was trembling with a mixture of humiliation and anger.

Alex felt the urge to hold her tight in his arms and comfort her, but he didn't know how. He felt a pang of guilt for not being able to help her more effectively.

"I,I"

"Thank you, Alex," Nova said softly, cutting him off. As Nova looked into his eyes, Alex felt a jolt of emotion. Her gaze felt like an intense one that pierced through his heart. 

He hated to see her tears, he couldn't look away, her depths of emotions captivated him. He shrugged the thoughts and smiled at Nova.

As he turned to leave, Nova held his arm. Just then, Camen, Alex's beta, stormed over. He was furious, he disliked Nova for changing Alex's attitude.

He knew Alex would never help her but rather put her to prison, Alex would never help a lowlife person, especially one that could not transform.

"What has she done to the Alpha" Camen said to himself.

Then he yanked Nova and pushed her to the ground.

"Stay away from the Alpha, you whore" Camen spat out, his voice dripping with venom 

Alex clenched his fist and glared at Camen.
