Memories

I woke up back in the guest room that was allocated to me by Queen Ranthoja of the Halooby kingdom. Sitting up on the bed, a wave of pain shot through my head causing me to to emit a grunt. Rose was by my side in a split second with a wet towel in one hand and a cup of ice water in the other.

"Take it easy, l don't want you fainting on me again" said Rose in her motherly voice. I could see the worry in her eyes and couldn't help but feel a tad but guilty although the situation was out of my control.

"I am so sorry about that Rose but l remembered something" that got her attention real quick

" what did you remember?" she asked

"This might sound strange, even to me it is, but l saw Prime Alove standing next to a weirdly dressed women with a scar on her right cheek and snow white hair. They were talking in a weird language l could not understand. What's weird was that they were talking over me if that makes sense. " just thinking about that 'memory' gave me the creeps. How is it that l had a 'memory' of someone so insignificant to me.

Rose just stared at me with wide eyes and before she could speak, the door opened and in came Maya with a tray of food in her hands.

"Queen Ranthoja requested l bring you food seeing as you could not join everyone at dinner" she said with a smile. Rose took the food from her and politely asked her to leave.

" Before l leave the Queen has asked me to inform you that Prime Alove's witch will be arriving tomorrow as per the request of the Queen." and with that she was out of the room

Rose had a perplexed expression on her face. She stared deeply at the floor in front of her before shaking her head and smiling at me

" eat up honey comb, you need all the strength you can get" she said not looking me in the eyes.

"what's going on Rose?" l asked now feeling a bit worried. She simply looked my way and mouthed the words ' We will speak when everyone has retired to their quarters, something isn't right here' before getting up and leaving me to the emptiness of the room. Roses' words replaying over and over in my head, drenching me with the feelings of uneasiness. Before l could dwell further on the troublesome thoughts residing in my head the door opened to reveal King Ryden.

"I see your food has been brought to you" he said with a nod of acknowledgement. Feeling unsure of what to say or the situation, his eyes flashed with recognition

"I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable, l just wanted to check up on you and see if you are okay" he said with what l could only assume to be a genuine smile since the first time l seen him.

"that's very kind of you" l replied with a smile of my own. Only God knows why a whole entire King was taking so much interest in helping a complete stranger, could what Maya had said earlier be true. Before l could entertain the thought further , he pulled a chair to the side of my bed and sat.

" Have you had any more memories?" he asked with genuine curiosity. I wanted to tell him the truth but Rose's words from earlier stopped me from saying anything.

I simply shook my head and put a spoonful of vegetables in my mouth. He seemed disappointed by my answer.

" well let's hope we get the answers we all want when we get to the Runaway kingdom. We leave at noon tomorrow, so l will leave you to get some rest" he said as he stood to make his way out of the room

"what do you mean leave at noon tomorrow" l asked further confused.

"we have to get to the Runaway Kingdom in the next week." he said sounding confused as well.

" But l thought we were meeting up with Prime Aloves witch tomorrow as per the request of the Queen" l said, but judging from the look on his face l could tell this was the first he had heard of this.

" I am not sure l follow" was his response.

"that's what Maya told Rose and l when she brought the food to my room" just as l said this Rose walked into the room

"Master" she said with a slight bow.

" why is it l am the last to hear of the news of the delay in our travel" Ryden asked Rose

"I assumed the Queen had discussed the change in our travel plans with you" Rose simply responded before making her way to me taking the empty tray of food from my hands and tucking me into bed. Ryden, unsatisfied with Roses' response and without as much as a 'goodbye' simply walked out of the room.

Rose walked to the dresser and got out a piece of paper and pen and walked to the seat Ryden had used earlier. She started writing on the paper before passing it over to me.

Something weird is going on here. I have an awful feeling that something bad is about to happen. It's not a coincidence that you have a 'memory of Alove and then now his witch is coming to see you-R

Upon realising that l was done reading, she motioned for me to write a response back to her

I don't know what you are getting at Rose but l agree with you that something strange is going on here. Did you know that Alove was going to be here? - A

Thats the strange thing. When we had asked for accommodation from King Alfred the sixth, he never mentioned having guests. Which makes me believe that Alove being here is no coincidence. - R

You are alluding to the fact that we aren't safe here. - A

If your 'memory really is a memory then you can't see Aloves witch. - R

And why is that - A

Because if he knows who you are, then it's game over for you. The woman you described from your' memory ' practices dark magic. She was banished from kingdom of Metusa 21 years ago for having a hand in the disappearance of the Royal baby-R

I hope you are not saying what l think you are saying-A

Its possible, first you were called Queen Manila, now you having memories of Alove . You just might be the lost princess. But if that is, we can't have anyone knowing that before we can confirm it. - R

After Roses' statement, l was to freaked out to continue the conversation. Rose took the pages we wrote on and tore them to tiny little pieces before flushing them down the toilet. My mind was racing with a million thoughts and possibilities but they all seemed absurd. Lost in my thoughts, l didn't see that Rose had left the room or notice the red flower on the door handle.
