Coma (35)

When Marcus got off the phone he called Harry.

"Did you talk to here?" He asked.

"Harry, it's not what you think. She did not cancel because of you she cancelled because she is in the hospital and did not want Lily to know."

"Is she alright?" He asked.

"Not sure, Harper was on the phone to Hiny and the ER doctor was coming in to look at her while we were on the phone."

"I'll fly out in the morning to see her then." he said.

"She is in the Capital hospital. She moved back there last weekend." Marcus said. He was happy his brother did not know this, it means she was not seeing him.

"Ok, I'll check on her there. Thanks for letting me know."

"Does Red have her phone or do you?"

"I have it. Why?"

"I told Ariel I would talk to Red so she would not be upset." Marcus said.

"Give me a few minutes she is taking a bath right now and I'll have her call you."

As Marcus hung up with Harry he received a call from Harper.

"Hey, how is she?" He asked.

"She went for a walk after lunch with me, we were only just a little past Tubby's house when she grabbed her chest. I helped her with the medication inhaler and rushed her to the ER. I just got off the phone with Hiny he is flying down. Come with him buddy she needs you."

"She told me not to come." Marcus said.

"She may not make it. She just went into a coma as the doctor her was checking her out. He is not hopeful."

"I'll be there soon. See if Tubby can put us up I don't want to stay with Harry."

"Hiny is going to stay with Tubby you can stay at my place. She won't need her room right now. JJ is going to share my room, we will take turns guarding her." He said.

"Ok, see you soon."

He was meeting Hiny and JJ at the airport. JJ had a private plane ready to take off when Lily called him back.

"Uncle Marcus what do you need?" her sweet voice said.

"Honey, Ariel won't be able to see you this weekend. She had some important business come up." he said.

"Ok, but she promised to take me to see the fish if daddy said it was alright."

"Red listen carefully, She will make this up to you but something very important came up. She can't use her phone right now to talk to you but will call you real soon. You know she would not miss seeing you if she could help it."

"Ok Uncle Marcus. I love you."

"I love you to. Tell your dad to call me after you go to bed Ok."

"Ok good night Uncle Marcus."

"Good night and sweet dreams."

He boarded the plane and they took off. Two hour later he was walking into the hospital.

JJ and Marcus stayed with Harper while Hindy went to talk with the hospital staff.

"Any changes?" Marcus asked.

"She stopped breathing. They put her on a ventilator for now because her other vital signs are strong."

"Can I go see her?" he asked.

He just shook his head so Marcus went in.

"Do they have any hope?" JJ asked

"Not really. They are going to give her a few days and if she can not breath on her own by then they said they had to let her go." Harper sat down and JJ joined him.

Marcus walked in and looked at his pale Mermaid. Even like this she is the most beautiful girl he had ever seen.

"You need to wake up and chase me out if you want me to leave this time. Ariel I don't know how to handle this. I was not this scared when I thought Kimmy would die. I don't want to lose you."

He held her hand and it was cold. He then got her another blanket. Then his brother called.

"Thanks for helping with Lily."

"Harry, ...."

"What's wrong?" Harrison could feel the pain he was in.

"She... She may not make it. Can you come here?"

"I'll be right there. You hold on." Harrison hung and let Mr. June know he was going to be out of a while and to call if he needed anything.

He then rushed to the hospital.

Hiny had sent Ariel for some testing. The three men waited for Hiny and her to return. Her private room was getting ready and she would be sent there soon.

Harrison rushed in and soon found his brother. "Are you all right?"

Marcus had tears in his eyes and could not say a word. JJ caught him up on what was going on. She was gone over an hour for testing before Hiny came to get them and take them to her room.

"I'll have the results in a few more hours. It does not look good. Just be prepared for the worst and hope for the best."

Marcus went to his knees and broke down. Seeing this brought tears to everyone's eyes.

Carrie sat at home in her red dress fuming at that dam Mermaid. She had to get rid of her one way or another. She gave up on her dream man twice and was not giving up on him again.

She made a call to her cousin. "Marco, get me all the information on a girl by the name of Ariel Thomas. She is 22 years old. Use to work as a Mermaid at the Aquarium park here and Harborview. Something is not right with her?"

"Give me a few hours I'll call you back."

She changed her closed and waited.

As the men waited Harrison sat holding his brothers hand. Marcus had always been the strongest of the two. It was killing him, he did not know how to help him.

When Hiny came back in they all look at him with hope.

"She is a lucky girl. I think I found the problem and it is treatable. But to be sure I put a call in for my mentor Doctor Kim to come take a look. If it is what I think, he will be able to help her. For now all we can do is wait." He said.

Every breathed a sigh of relief but Marcus, he was not going to give himself hope right now because if he did and he lost her he could not come back from the blow.
