The incident
As Valerie sat, her grandmother's warm hand wrapped around hers, offering reassurance. Nanny Rosaline settled on the other side, trapping Valerie in the middle.
"Earlier, you had a bit of a meltdown," Nanny Rosaline began, her voice soft and calming, like a gentle stream. "You forgot you had a child." Her words hung in the air, heavy with concern.
Valerie's frown deepened, her brow furrowed in confusion. Her eyes darted between Nanny Rosaline and her grandmother, "Was that true, granny?"
The old woman sighed, get heart heavy with pain. She nodded gently and patted the back of Valerie's hand. "You'll be alright, Child."
Nanny Rosaline's gaze locked onto Valerie, her eyes filled with empathy. "I called your dad," she continued, "who in turn brought over a doctor to check on you."
