It was six in the morning when Luke woke up, while his two dormitory mates were still fast asleep. Slytherin's dormitories had an unusual atmosphere, thanks to the green-tinted windows that made it difficult to gauge the time. This environment instilled strong self-discipline in Slytherin students to avoid oversleeping and being late.
Luke donned his Slytherin school uniform, neatly tied his green tie, grabbed his wand, and quietly left the dormitory. The common room was empty, with no other students in sight. Slytherin students were known for their punctuality, and Luke was no exception.
Navigating through the winding corridors, Luke arrived at the Great Hall, which served as Hogwarts' dining hall and where he could get his Slytherin class schedule.
"Just some breakfast," he muttered, and a sumptuous breakfast materialized in front of him, courtesy of the house-elves that lived in Hogwarts. These elves were renowned for their culinary skills.
After a hearty breakfast, Luke noticed a new piece of parchment on the table. It was the Slytherin class schedule for the semester. The schedule indicated that most classes were held jointly with Gryffindor, with some overlap with other houses as well.
As he examined the timetable, Luke noted that Slytherin and Gryffindor had the most classes together, perhaps fostering competition and pressure between the two houses.
Luke, who had received years of education in his previous life, found the courses rather straightforward, leaving him with plenty of free time.
Morning classes were scheduled from 9:00 to 12:00, with afternoon classes from 14:00 to 15:30. On certain days, there were evening classes after dinner.
After finishing breakfast and reviewing his schedule, it was already 7:00 in the morning. The Great Hall had filled up with students, predominantly from Slytherin and Ravenclaw houses, most of whom were older students. The first-year students were likely still sleeping.
With his class schedule in hand and some free time before his first class, Luke decided to explore Hogwarts' interior. As he headed towards the stairs leading to the classrooms, he noticed that the stairs constantly shifted and changed direction. For an unfamiliar student, these moving stairs were a potential obstacle to punctuality.
The stone walls were adorned with various paintings, depicting beautiful girls, splendid ladies, knights charging on horseback, and every character in the paintings seemed to have a soul, capable of communication.
Guided by a friendly lady in one of the paintings, Luke familiarized himself with the layout of the school in just an hour. By eight in the morning, he still had an hour before his first class.
Just as he contemplated visiting the library, a cheerful voice called out from behind, stopping him in his tracks.
"Luke!"
As Luke turned his head, he was greeted by a pleasant jasmine scent wafting through the air. Hermione, who had been assigned to Gryffindor, stopped him. She was dressed in a red lion wizard's robe, her long fluffy hair exuding a delightful fragrance. In her arms, she held a thick book and a class schedule.
"Good morning, Hermione," Luke greeted her with a warm smile. "It looks like we have a lot of lessons together." He raised the class schedule in his hand and continued, "By the way, do you want to visit the classrooms? I've just noted down all the locations."
Hermione's brown eyes brightened with enthusiasm, and she nodded eagerly at Luke's handsome face. "Is it okay?"
Luke was pleased to have a companion for exploring the classrooms. "Of course, no bother at all."
Hermione had just finished breakfast and had planned to do some research on her own, but the opportunity to explore the school with Luke was too tempting to pass up. She nodded vigorously, her long, fluffy brown hair swaying gently, intensifying the pleasant jasmine scent that surrounded her.
As they walked up the shifting staircases, Hermione explained the layout of their Gryffindor common room to Luke.
"What's Slytherin's common room like?" she asked curiously.
"Well, it's more like an aquarium," Luke replied with a metaphor.
Hermione's eyes sparkled with curiosity and a touch of envy upon hearing his description. However, when she learned about the giant octopus that occasionally slapped the glass at night, her expression shifted to one of fear.
"I'll take you to the Slytherin common room when I get the chance. My roommates are really friendly," Luke reassured her. "They're not in the dorms very often."
He couldn't help but chuckle, knowing that it was easy for him to persuade Malfoy and his friends to vacate the dormitory.
After becoming familiar with the layout of the castle with Hermione, it was time for their first class, which happened to be Transfiguration. The two of them headed to the classroom together.
Perhaps they arrived a bit early, as the classroom was empty except for a beautiful tabby cat lounging on the podium.
Taking their seats in the front row, the two students placed their spellbooks on the table.
"Is anyone else here yet?" Hermione wondered aloud, looking around the empty classroom.
"It's only 8:40 now, so others will probably arrive soon," Luke replied, glancing at his wristwatch.
The two of them also noticed the tabby cat on the podium, which seemed to be observing them.
"This cat is adorable," Hermione said, tempted to pet it. However, Luke, standing beside her, restrained her gently.
"If it's the professor's cat, it's best not to touch it," Luke cautioned. He knew that the cat in front of them was Professor McGonagall, an elderly and strict professor. Mishandling her pet could result in lost house points.
As Luke and the tabby cat locked eyes, Professor McGonagall observed them with keen interest. The light blue eyes of the tabby cat seemed to convey curiosity about the unusual sight of Slytherin and Gryffindor students together.
"Will students from Slytherin and Gryffindor really get along?" she mused to herself.
