Prologue

In the boundless abyss of the void, a solitary soul drifted, its darkness rivaling even the depths of the void itself. This soul seemed to slumber deeply, the signs of its awakening slowly emerging.

"Hmm?" The soul murmured as awareness returned, its gaze piercing through the void. However, before coherent thoughts could form, a spiraling portal of white manifested, drawing the soul inexorably within.

Within an immaculate chamber of neutral gray, a stark contrast emerged—a sphere of darkness darker than the blackest night, facing a woman draped entirely in white. The unyielding gaze they exchanged, a contest of wills, concluded with a silent understanding.

With a resigned sigh, the woman in white took her place at a conjured table, gesturing for the soul to join her at the other end.

"Greetings, I am known as @#$@$#%, but you may call me Katie. First and foremost, you have departed the realm of the living," she announced as the soul settled, be it seated, floating, or levitating.

"Understood," came the soul's response, devoid of emotion.

"Perhaps a semblance of dismay?" Katie suggested, raising an eyebrow.

"No."

"Very well then. You've traversed into the realm beyond life, and now I present an offer."

"What offer?"

"To reincarnate you into a world of your choice—one from the realm of anime. You shall possess powers of your design, a body crafted to your liking, and an entry point within a chosen timeline. However, the details shall remain under my purview."

"And the cost?"

"Ah, the price," Katie began, a chuckle escaping her lips, gradually erupting into hearty laughter. "Apologies, that was the most genuine laughter I've had in an age. The price, my dear, is yourself."

"Pervert."

"Ah, but I speak of something deeper—my desire for a child of my own."

"But you are a deity. Could you not conjure one with a wave of your hand or find a partner?"

Katie's countenance shifted from mirth to exasperation. "True, I possess the means to conjure offspring with magic, yet I seek an existing soul—a soul as dark, as corrupt, as sinful, and as divine as my own." Her form wavered, the white shroud replaced by a churning abyss that revealed the essence she'd borne. Within the shadows, a manifestation of her true self emerged—an intricate dance of darkness and twisted malevolence, yet within it, a delicate balance of a more benevolent force struggled to assert itself. Her true form bore the scars of both the shadows she'd embraced and the flickering light she harbored within—a duality that mirrored the complexity of her desires.

"Our resonance is palpable," the soul replied with acceptance. "I consent to your request, Mother."

"Why so unimpressed? Ask, question, do not merely accept."

Silence lingered, neither soul nor deity uttering a word, yet their unspoken exchange brimmed with unspoken understanding.

"So be it. Swiftly decide. And know this: your chosen world shall witness the birth of a race hitherto unknown."

"That selection holds intrigue," Katie mused as she surveyed her child's choices. "Yet, why that world?"

The soul's voice shifted, now laced with an unknown intrigue and curiosity. "I felt something pull me to it, a feeling that led me to my demise or..."

"What!?" Katie's response was a mere whisper, stunned into speechlessness as the soul's fervent emotions flooded the space between them.

"I see. Go then. Discover and grow so that you can finally understand the delicate dance of light and shadow within your own existence." Her final words whispered away like a breath carried by the wind.
