The duel got more dangerous... Ward Bet

"Do you think the Free Points will come?" A young man asked his friend casually.

"I don't think so…. It's no secret that the Free Points didn't have a fighter robot to fight this duel. And perhaps if they were to come…I can't imagine the ridicule they would receive from the crowd."

Surrounding the two friends were huge crowds that were anticipating the arrival of the Free Points team.

Previously, their fame in winning the Golem Pit tournament had spread throughout the Nightshade town.

In addition, the Vulture gang didn't spare any penny in publishing the duel between the two sides. Thus, almost all the folks knew of today's duel.

Moreover, the addition of the legendary son of da Fonte to the Free Points was a major talking point in the community of robot fighting.

No one understands why the son of such a great man would join such a loser group.

With his fame in the previous Golem Pit tournament, many guilds had sent an invitation to him. Unfortunately, only for them to be rejected by him.

Now, the guilds couldn't wait for him to be ridicule and laugh at when he lost miserably in this match.

At the center of the crowd was a massive robot fighting ring. At the left side of the ring was the Vulture gang dressed in black suits.

Standing in front of the gang was a middle-aged man and a young man.

The middle-aged man was the leader of the gang and the father of Ward. His notoriety was known to everyone in the Nightshade town and his protective behavior toward his only son.

Ward had a proud smile on his face as his eyes looked at the entrance every now and then. For this duel, he conceives many evil plans.

As long as the Free Points did not show up, he wouldn't hesitate to make their lives a living hell.

Moreover, if they were to show up. He wasn't a bit scared. Under his continuous nagging, his father spent a huge sum of money to invite a robot engineer from nearby town to upgrade Hell Punch.

Now, the newly Hell Punch was more domineering and powerful. It could defeat its previous self under three punches.

"I don't think the Free Points will come?" A middle-aged man said.

His voice was not low and almost everyone in the arena could hear his voice. Looking at the man, he was the leader of a powerful robot fighting guild and many knew him.

Quickly, many gossip and murmurs appeared in the crowd as they began to doubt the arrival of the Free Points. At once, a lot of them began to consider whether to leave. But just then, a voice cried in excitement.

"The Free Points are here?"

At once, the crowd turned their heads and looked in the entrance direction. And behold, there was the Free Points team. In the lead was Pablo, walking confidently with a calm smile on his face.

As for the others, they didn't know which expression they should show to the crowd. In the end, they could only force out a confident smile while their heart was racing.

Their robot was from the junkyard for crying out loud.

Every piece was from one dead robot to another. Looking at the blue and red robot walking behind was a miracle on its own. Besides, none of them believe Pablo could make a fighter robot out of this newly junkyard metal.

Nevertheless, the group had no choice but to put on a facade. At least if they were to lose, they would only lose the title of the Golem Pit champion. So they thought.

As the Free Points approached the ring, the evil smile on Ward's face deepened. 'I knew the legendary son won't cower in the face of such a challenge…. But wait, where the hell did they find a robot.'

"Why is their robot always ugly?" A female said with disgust.

Hearing this, a laugh escaped from the crowd as they noticed every of the Free Points robot was just too ugly to look at. Even though in robot fighting, looks didn't mean a thing, yet many teams still went to great lengths to make their robots more appealing.

"Son, you must win at all costs," said Ward's father in a low domineering tone.

"Don't worry father. I got this."

"You'd better. You know what is at stake"

"I know"

With that, Ward matched into the ring. He looked at the Free Points team with an evil smile before averting his gaze and looked at the crowd.

"Since this will be a fight between the previous Golem Pit champion and the current champion. My gang and I propose a bet." Ward started confidently.

Hearing this, it piqued the interest of the audience as they couldn't wait to hear what the bet was all about. And before Ward could continue, one of the guild masters said,

"I thought you wouldn't propose such a thing. I would have been disappointed in your gang. But now, I realized you're more farsighted than I imagined."

As for the Free Points, the forceful smile on their faces had long disappeared and was replaced with panic and fear. They looked at the guild master and wanted to strangle him to death.

Even a fool could understand what this master was doing. He was pushing the Free Points deeper into their doom.

"Right. Right." Ward nodded happily. "So the bet is..., the winner will take everything, and the loser will leave the town or work for the winner for 5 years."

Hearing the absurd bet, the crowd sucked in a cold breath and rolled their eyes. Ward was going out for a kill, leaving no room for the Free Points to escape.

As for the Free Points, fear gripped their heart like a grim reaper. Their hearts were racing and their blood was boiling.

Why?! Why?!

They cried in their hearts. They've never offended the Vulture Gang. But why are they trying so hard to make life difficult for them?

Kaida had tears gathering at the corner of her eyes while Fabian wasn't any better.

Isadora and Cedric had unsightly expressions on their faces and she turned to Pablo.

"What should we do?" She asked in a low trembling voice.

This was way beyond what she could handle and she was on the brink of mental breakdown.

Meanwhile, among the crowd, each of their parents was staring at their child filled with panic and nervousness.

Just beg and surrender to the vulture gang. Their parents shouted in their minds.

As for Pablo, he was in a dilemma. He didn't want to fight the Vulture gang with a weak robot, putting the lives of the others in jeopardy. But he can't refuse the system.

He closed his eyes for a moment and opened it slowly.

'I can't possibly be running from every challenge.'

'Let's do this.'

"We agree." His voice was not loud but the crowd heard loud and clear.

Hearing this, Cedric widened his eyes. He never believed this idiot would fall into the trap of the vulture gang. He wanted to scream and give Pablo a serious beating but when she saw Isadora.

He swallowed his resentment.

He gnashed his teeth in fury. 'Since his arrival, everything about our team has been going all wrong?' He thought hatefully.

"Good! Good!" Ward laughed.

Everything was going according to his plan.

'Let's bring the big guy'

Unknown to the audience and Pablo, he was not going to use Hell Punch to fight the duel but another robot entirely.
