Lio felt the adrenaline coursing through him as he and Mia sprinted through the narrow passageway, the sound of their footsteps echoing off the stone walls. The cloaked figure led the way, their movements fluid and sure, but Lio couldn't shake the feeling that they were plunging deeper into unknown territory—both literally and metaphorically.
"Where are you taking us?" Lio called out, trying to keep his voice steady despite the rising panic within him.
The figure glanced back, their eyes glimmering with a hint of urgency. "To a safe place. You need to understand what you're up against."
Mia shot Lio a worried look. "Do you think we can trust them?"
"I don't know," Lio admitted, forcing himself to focus on the immediate task. "But we don't have much choice right now."
