CHAPTER 32 : I TEND TO FORGET

"Okay, but what did you expect me to do about your revelation? Cry?...Please, I can't be that pathetic." Lan said, well aware that there was a naked lie in her statement.She had cried some hours earlier but she wouldn't let this Chun Xue know about that.

" Your boyfriend cheated on you with me and you are so comfortable about it?"

"It's not like it's the end of the world. There are many other men out there waiting for me." Lan answered as a matter of fact.

Chun Xue was baffled. She took her phone and called someone. " Hey, babe. Am in the Blaze Designers store. Come quick, there is something I want to show you."

"Seriously, you called him here? " Lan asked in disbelief. The last person she wanted to meet was her scum ex.

"You said that there are other men out there waiting for you. I bet you can't say that in front of Haru. After all you were practically obsessed with him." Chun Xue taunted.

"Okay girl, I don't know what you are trying to get at here but my friend is hungry and we wanna have lunch.And correction, I was not obsessed with him; I was just a fool in love with a scumbag. There's a difference."

"Why do you want to leave as soon as I call Haru over? You want to escape without meeting your ex boyfriend?"

"No,if I see him my mood will be totally ruined and it's something I don't want right now."

"Hey, you called?" Haru,the man Chun Xue had called earlier, appeared and draped his arm on her shoulder.

"I called you to meet your girlfriend and clarify things between you two."

"Oh." Haru said as he looked at Lan and then at Zhao Xia. " Umm... Lan there's something I wanted to tell you." He scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.

"That you have been seeing another woman behind my back for eight months straight and that you have been having s*x with her in the apartment we shared, when am not around? I already know so there's no need to talk to me regarding anything." Lan coldly glanced at the couple before standing up. "Oh...your girlfriend wanted me to say this to your face.There are plenty of better men waiting for me out there. Are you satisfied now? Ummm...What was your name again?"

"Chun Xue."

"Oh, yes. Are you satisfied now, Chun Xue?"

"We are hungry. Excuse us." She said as she got up from the bench and Zhao Xia followed suit.

Chun Xue glared hatefully at the two before turning around with an intention of leaving the store.

"Hey, you." Zhao Xia called referring to Chun Xue.

"My name is Chun Xue. How many times do I have to tell you?" She asked, exasperated.

"Oh..my apologies. I tend to forget insignificant things, you see. I wanted to tell you that coming to taunt someone because of the past is really immature.Like girl, grow up. And don't look at us with that hateful gaze of yours. I might be tempted to gouge your eyes out." With that, Zhao Xia looped her arm with Lan's and the two headed to the elevator, leaving a flabbergasted couple behind.

"So what is this restaurant you were telling me about?"

"It's a steak house actually. The food there is delicious, I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do. My friend, Diego owns it."

"Then if it is as good as you say,let's try it."

They alighted the elevator on the fifth floor and headed to the restaurant. After ordering the food, Lan engaged Zhao Xia in a conversation about the history of the restaurant until their order arrived.

It was about 8:00 pm that the two left the mall to head to the hotel. After wishing Lan good night and seeing her to her hotel room, Zhao Xia made her way to the penthouse. Opening the door, she spotted her husband's shoes at the shoe rack near the entrance.

She rushed to the kitchen when she heard some noise from there and found Zhao Haoran wrapped in an apron, preparing dinner for them.

"I missed you so much." Zhao Xia said as she hugged him from behind.

He switched off the stove and turned around to hug his little wife in his arms." Yeah, I missed you too." After some time, he picked her up and settled her on the kitchen counter."Let me finish cooking our dinner and in the meantime, you tell me all about your day." He said as he chopped some veggies.

"So I met this lady today..." Zhao Xia narrated her day activities until Zhao Haoran finished laying the table.

After dinner, the two were tangled in bed as Zhao Xia massaged her husband's scalp. "You are doing magic to my scalp."

"I figured that you are quite tired from spending a whole day in the office and also prepared dinner for us. I wanted to help you relax a bit."

"Thank you, sweetheart.And I love you."

"You're welcome.And I love you more." After about ten minutes, Zhao Xia looked down to see that her husband had already fallen into deep sleep.

A week trickled by quickly and the day the couple would visit Zhao Xia's family arrived. After bidding Lan goodbye, they checked out of the hotel.

Lan and Zhao Xia had grown quite close over the last few days and their relationship could be considered as being close friends.

On their way, they stopped by a gift shop to buy some goods for the family members.

They soon arrived at enormous iron gates where they were stopped by security for inspection. Since Zhao Xia hadn't informed anyone that she was visiting, it was obvious that the security would be cautious of the visitor.

She lowered her window and greeted the bodyguard who had approached them. " Hey, Jee, it's me." Jee was the deputy head of security in the Aiguo clan.

"Oh, young miss. it's been a long time since I saw you. And who is the gentlemen beside you?" Jee asked.

"This is my husband, Zhao Haoran."

"Ooh...I thought you said you would marry me in the future." Jee teased.

" Don't spill our secret otherwise someone here will be drinking vinegar all by himself."

"You're such a tease, young miss." Jee laughed.

"I know."

Jee stretched his hand to greet Zhao Haoran to which he responded to." It's an honor to meet you, sir."

"The honor is all mine, Mr. Jee."

"Please, call me Jee."

"Okay."

"Young miss, should I inform your family that you are here?"

"No. I want to surprise them.It's been a year since I last saw them."

"Okay. Have fun, little one." Jee said as he motioned for the other guards to open the gates.
