CHAPTER TWELVE

Mary alighted from her car. She wore a dark suit over a black trouser and shoe. She also wore a dark glass. She walked briskly placing each step carefully and cautiously. One could think she was a paranoia but that was actually how she behaved. Always careful and cautious. She always listened to reason and logic and takes sides when it was evident that the side she took will win. She took quick glances over her shoulders with her senses on alert.

She walked into a building. The building was more like a storage facility but much more larger. It was hidden in the basement of an old construction company. The door was shut, She walked towards it and knocked. Shortly after she saw someone peeping through a pidgin hole on the door. The person unlocked the door from inside and opened it.

She walked in and the man gave a small bow as she walked in. There were more vampires in the building than one could see. It was strategically used as a hiding place so there were many hiding spots for the vampires to hide to avoid being seen. The security in the place was tight enough to leech any one who dared an attack.

She walked towards a segment of the building. It was enclosed with white curtains. She walked towards the curtain. " Permission to come in" she said as she stood outside the curtain. " Come on in" a voice replied. "You're right on time."

She walked into the place. A man sat on a chair. His looks were wild and dangerous. His eyes hovered around her as though someone was following her. She was however used to that look. Initially she used to wonder if he saw ghosts or things around people but later got to find out that was his look. He looked handsome though he had little scars on his face. One could tell that he had fought a lot of battles from the looks of his body.

He smiled when she came in. "Mary" ,he said. "Good job so far. Tell me how is my price?" " She's clueless so far", she replied. "She has no idea what she is neither does she know what's going on. Some vampires however attacked recently and when I wanted to save her one of Norman's men came to her rescue."

"Why would Norman save her?" The man asked. " I don't think Norman did. "She replied. " I think the man betrayed Norman. He was one of Norman's right hand man." The man gave a short laugh. "Betrayal is in the blood", he said. "Everyone has it and all it takes is time and nurturing to grow". He gave Mary a scrutinizing look.

"What shall we do sir Fergus?"Mary asked ignoring his stare. "Keep an eye on Norman's new betrayer, he may be useful later. How about Darius?"

"He doesn't show his face" Mary replied, " nobody sees him and nobody has seen him for a long time. I don't know why he choose to remain in the dark."

Fergus walked around thinking for a while. "Darius is very clever, he knows how to play his card well and knows exactly what to do in every situation, after all he is a vampire lord. He has survived thousands of years and fought all kinds of creatures."

"What are you suggesting?" Mary asked. Fergus looked at her. "We need to hasten our plans now. There is no stopping it and there should be no draw backs. Everything has been going well so far and everything is going our way. However I fear Darius may soon return. Things are changing quickly and new developments keep coming out everyday. If we don't strike first Darius may soon get to know that I am in his city and that would be a huge blow to our plan."

"So what would you like me to do?" Mary asked. "Get me that vampire hunter" he said, "and bring her to me. The time has come for her to come to use. You have done a good job so far. You killed her husband and daughter and then in the same manner killed some people in this city and found a means to draw her here. That was a really clever plan I'll give you that."

"I just exploited her weakness" Mary said with a smile, "she valued her family too much. When I took that from her it made her desperate. She searched so long for the killer. People who are desperate become clumsy and hence start making decisions without even thinking if they are working into a trap or not."

"Very good" Fergus complimented. "It makes me proud to see you like this. You're the best among everyone I have trained that's why I'm made you my personal assistant." "Thank you sir" Mary said, "I promise I will never fail you." "Don't worry" he said, "If everything goes as planned I will reward in a way you didn't think possible."

Mary smiled and gave a short bow before leaving. Fergus watched her go smiling to himself. She disappeared through the door and shut it. "Keep an eye out" Fergus said to his men." Only people you know and are well acquainted with can be allowed in."

"Yes boss" they replied. "One more thing" he added. "No one must disturb me for now. No matter how important the situation is." "Yes, my lord" they said again. Fergus walked away from them into a room. The door of the room was painted red and had some strange markings on them.

Fergus walked in and shut the door tightly locking himself in it. The room looked larger than it appeared. It was tightly sealed. There were no windows or any openings in it. It was extremely dark and no person could see a thing in it except of course for vampires who can see in the dark and vamp lords like Fergus.

He walked towards one of the walls. There was some sort of a marking on the floor there. It was a white circle drawn with maybe a marker. The circle was large enough to fit a person. He walked towards it and picked a white powdery substance from his pocket and poured it into the circle. Then he bit his wrist with his fang. Blood dripped down and he directed it to the white powdery substance on the floor. His wound healed instantly and he waited.

Shortly after something like a dark mist began to project out of the white substance. The mist was thick and very dark. One could easily think it was more like a thick liquid. It grew bigger and bigger and growing higher. It didn't cross the circle but revolved around it. Gradually it began to settle and turned into the shape of a man. The creature looked more like a shadow. It wore a dark hood attached to a dark overall coat.

Fergus took a bow when the creature appeared. " I take it you have good news for me", the creature said. Its voice was more like a growl and was clearly inhuman. It was way taller than Fergus and he had to look up to talk to it. It didn't have a feet as its body downwards reduced to something like a smoke projecting out of the white powdery substance.

"Everything is going as planned" Fergus said, " soon the vampire hunter girl would be brought here and then all we'll need to do is find Darius and bring him here. We'll use the hunter girl to kill Darius and I'll absorb his power and become a dark lord. I'll then do what I promised. I'll use my power to break the spell keeping you people in hell."

"How about the watchers?" The creature asked. "Any news about them". "No one has seen or heard anything about them for a long time" Fergus replied. " I don't think they are going to be a problem."

"Don't be a fool", the creature growled, "watchers are sneaky and tricky. Do you really think they won't have a clue of what's going on?. They are very smart and calculating. They tricked us before during the great war and almost eradicated us if we hadn't pulled our last string and banished ourself to hell to be locked away forever. That was the only way to survive. But never again are we going to fall for their tricks again and soon they'll be the ones who will be eradicated. When that time comes we will show no mercy."

"But they read the future like a book" Fergus said, " do you think they must have seen everything and know of our plan?". " The future never reveals itself in details" the creature said "When you ,read the future it always looks like an ancient code with phrases and words that make no sense and it is left to them to decipher it and figure out what it means. We also see the future but in a different way. Unlike they who read it like a book we see it as visions and pictures. We usually see flashes and some little signs which usually don't make sense until we also figure out what it means."

"So what have you seen so far?" Fergus asked. " You have no right to demand that!" The figure snapped, "we may be helping each other but that doesn't mean we're friends. Know your place."

Fergus didn't say anything again about that. "I hope you fulfill your end of the deal when this is over", he said," I hope you do as you promised. You'll make me ruler of hell, the underworld and here."

"Of course" the creature replied, "when we are free we'll bring an army of demons to earth to enslave and take over the earth. Then everything will be yours to command. Demons, vampires, humans, and everything else."

A smile cut across Fergus face." I can't wait" he said. His face beaming with excitement.
