CHAPTER NINE

The wind blew across the streets. The night was chilly and it looked like rain was about to fall. Thunder roared above to warn people about the impending downfall to avoid getting drenched. People increased their pace to wherever they wanted to go so as not to get caught up in the rain.

Alice paced about in her room. She was almost shivering, not of the cold but due to frustration. She had been staring at the screen in front of her for a long time. All this years she had been looking for her mum and wondering why she left her alone. Things however had took a turn, she never expected a day will come when she'll live in a room her mother had previously stayed. Could all this be a coincidence? Of all the apartments in Atlanta why did she end up in the one her mother once stayed? She moved around the rooms to check if she could see anything else aside from the necklace she found earlier. The necklace seemed to be like a family heritage or something because her mother also had the same ones too. From her mothers name she discovered her family name was Keith.

She groaned aloud. She couldn't take this. She rushed and put on a jacket and went out of the house. The wind was already getting fiercer and the streets were starting to look deserted. She walked not minding if she got drenched. The rain was already dripping slowly. She kept moving. She loved the feeling of the wind against her skin.

She then spotted a bar. She sighed in relief, at the very least she needed a break from all this. She walked into the bar. It was still buzzling with activities. Ladies danced on the podium for the men who were busy with drinking and laughing. She walked towards the bar-man and sat on a big stool.

"What will my lady like to drink?" He asked giving her an odd look. "Whiskey please" she replied, "with ice if you may."

He gave a slight nod and proceeded to bring out what she asked for. She noticed the laughter had died down and some of them were staring at her. No most of them were staring at her. She could hear soft growls emerging from their throats. What's with everyone in this room? Even the bar man had that odd look on his face.

He handed her the glass and she drank it slowly. The drink burnt its way down her throat and she closed her eyes to let it go down before taking another sip. She noticed some of the girls who were dancing had stopped and were staring at her. She looked down at her dressing. She wasn't having a wardrobe malfunction neither was she weird looking. What's with all the stares?

She took another big sip and stood up to go. She dropped the money for the bar-man on the table and turned to go. The thunder outside was getting frequent and louder and a heavy downpour had began. But getting drenched was better than staying here and receiving all this stares from this people. She walked quickly. She discovered that the weird feeling had come again. The weird scent she got from Martin and her neighbor though the scent from this people looked weaker.

She was near the door when one of them blocked her way. "Where do you think you're going?" He growled.

"Out of my way now!" She thundered, this wasn't getting funny, panic had already started rising in her. She reached for her gun. She was glad she held it with her.

"Why are you in our city, hunter?" The man asked again. She turned around. They were all gathering on her, every single one of them. There was this dangerous look in their eyes. Their looks were wild and she could swear that she saw some of them grow longer nails.

She brought out her gun immediately, "stop whatever you're about to do!" She roared aimlessly pointing the gun at all of them. "Don't you dare take another step I'm a cop, ATPD"

A smile flickered across the face of one of them. " A female police hunter" he said. "If you weren't our enemy I'll have called you hot."

"Why are you calling me a hunter?" She asked, "and I don't bloody hell know any of you so why assume that I'm your enemy."

"We'll love to give you details", the one by the door said, " but it doesn't really matter, you're about to die." One of them stepped towards her but she fired him on the shoulder. He jerked backwards with pain flashing in his features but he recovered quickly with a smile. His eyes turned red and Alice could see fangs hanging in his jaws. Alice felt a hand grab her and threw her towards the wall. She tried to stop herself but failed as she crashed with the wall. She hurried immediately and stood on her feet. She noticed all of them now had fangs. Goodness! She was in a vampire's den. She thought they existed only in movies but now here she was face to face with them who all wanted to kill her. She threw her gun away, it was no good.

One of them rushed at her but she caught him in the midair and smashed him with the nearest table. He let out a scream. She was as fast as they were and so they marched each other except she was outnumbered. Two of them rushed at her while the remaining tried to surround her. She tricked them in going right but ended up going left. She picked a bottle and smashed it into one of their heads. Someone grabbed her and hit her hard on the face. She staggered backwards but didn't fall. She licked her lips and felt blood there. Shit! Now she was mad maybe they had a good reason to fear her.

She dived on one of them and they both crashed into a table. She threw a punch at him with great force that she felt his skull crack. One of them jumped at her but she threw him off. A leg hit her from behind and she flied towards another one in front who threw a punch straight to her face. She saw stars dance in her eyes and became dizzy as she fell on the floor.

A hand grabbed her from the floor and held her neck. She could feel it was a lady. She pushed herself backwards with all her might and they both crashed to the floor. The grip on her neck loosened and she sighed a relief. Another hand grabbed her by the collar and tried to raise her up but she caught the hand and twisted it so hard that the bones snapped loose. The man screamed in pain. She stood to her feet and grabbed a chair. She smashed it into the head of the lady who was standing from the floor and the lady fell back.

She made a run for it. She ran so fast that one could hardly see her towards the door and smashed herself into it. She tumbled on the floor but got up again. Her vision wasn't clear and the heavy downpour didn't help matters. She ran as fast as she could but suddenly tripped and fell. At that speed the fall was lethal. She tumbled on the floor and rolled for a couple of miles before stopping. She felt pain all over like shockwaves passing through her body. A figure appeared above her and lifted her up. " I've always wanted to know how a hunter taste like" the person said and sank his fangs into her neck. She felt a sharp pain course through her body and she let out a scream. The person however threw her backwards as he removed his fangs. He was screaming. Alice watched as her blood burnt its way through his mouth. Her blood was like acid to vampires. The man fell on the floor dead with half his mouth burnt away.

Interesting , so now her blood was like an acid to vampires. A hand hit her hard on the head and she fell to the floor in pain. She struggled to remain conscious. For once she was grateful for her superpowers as her body was trying to repair all the damages.

"You'll pay for that" a voice said. A hand lifted her up harshly from the floor. She could see about seven of them there. One of them held a knife and came forward. "I'll carve your hearth out!" He spat out as he recoiled his hands backwards to stab her hearth. She closed her eyes. She had always wanted to die but she didn't picture it like this. Besides she had a lot of unsolved mysteries she'll like to unravel before she die.

She waited for the sharp pain on her chest but there was none. The grip on her loosened and she heard screams. She opened her eyes and saw a figure fighting off the vampires. The figure approached her and held her. The man's eyes were crimson as he held her but slowly it turned normal.

Her vision started clearing and she immediately recognized the man. "Martin?" She called out in surprise. She was right he knew something about vampires, but worse, he was a vampire. "Are you alright?" He asked with concern in his voice. She nodded at him.

"Go someplace safe", he said, " not your apartment but anywhere else you think is safe."

"What about you?" She asked. He smiled at her. " I'll be fine" he replied. She went away from him running as fast as she could. When she reached a safe place she picked her phone and went through her contact list. She then dialed Janet.

Martin faced the men. " You'll do this to your own kind!" One of them screamed. " We'll report you to Norman." "No you won't!" Martin warned. They tried to attack him but he was quick to block them. In minutes he had killed them all plucking out their hearths. He groaned loudly. This wasn't happening. He had betrayed Norman and has reached a point of no return. Normal would eventually know of this. He was fucked and he knew it. "He had messed up, he didn't realized when he

let out a high pitched scream.
