Bloodline ability

What is a bloodline ability?

A power which runs without mana? An ability unique to a family? A power that can only be inherited? One of the core factors of becoming a powerful mage?

All the questions above have the same answer, yes. Bloodline abilities are a power inherited through blood. It's passed down from one generation to another, some disappear and new ones appear. Why might this be? Of course it's because a child can only inherit one bloodline ability which comes from either the father or mother. But how can new bloodline abilities appear? It doesn't come out of thin air but instead when the two bloodlines of the parents mutate to create a whole new one.

You don't get to choose which ability you inherit from your parents and that's also the case for mutated bloodline abilities. The mutation of bloodlines is a very rare occurrence, it always occurs between two not so strong bloodlines and it always leads to stronger bloodline with similarities of both the combined bloodlines.

So, why am I telling you this? Well let's go back to a few minutes ago.

"How do you find out your bloodline ability?" Leandrei's question echoed throughout the room.

The first to answer was the viscount "To find out your ability you need to focus on yourself. As a beginner magician tries to feel the mana around them, to know your bloodline ability instead of focusing on your mana you need to focus on yourself. Once you feel it you would natually understand what it is, but how you apply it is your choice to make". Viscount Watkins informed him like an experienced teacher.

After pondering about the Viscount's words Leandrei said "Alright I think I understand what you meant".

With that Leandrei closed his eyes and quickly focused all his senses and attention on himself. He entered a state of meditation, he delved deeper and deeper into himself. After 5 minutes he finally saw a small spheare about the side of a tennis ball surrounded by nothingness. It was the only thing there, he attempted to further understand the pure white sphere infront of him and suddenly woke up from his meditated state.

"Ouch!" He screamed, his head was throbbing intensely as if he was smacked in the head with metal bat. Tears threatened to escape from his eyes while he was immersed in his pain. Leandrei began to massage his forehead to reduce the excruciating pain he was experiencing and after calming down a bit inherited was enlightened with information. Knowledge flooded into his brain engraving it inside him.

He hurriedly stopped massaging his forehead and looked towards Viscount Watkins and muttered "Inspect". Although he said it quietly everyone heard it as the moment Leandrei entered the state of meditation everyone had their eyes on him in complete silence. Everyone agreed to this unanimously in order to not break Leandrei's focus. Focus was a necessity when trying to find out your bloodline ability, for someone as young as Leandrei focus wasn't that easy have as single creak could disrupt his meditation.

As soon as Leandrei said the word his eyes turned as black as the abyss, looking into his eyes was like looking into a void of endless darkness. It was completely different from his ocean blue eyes which demonstrated utmost beauty with immense tranquility. This change caught everyone off-guard and in wonder.

However it was different for Leandrei, while he looked at Viscount Watkins he could see waves of white energy surrounding him. He looked at the others in the room and found that the amount of energy surrounding a person varied. The Viscount actually had the most energy surrounding him while the butler had the least, in second place was the blonde magician and in third was Priest Naruo and then the guard who was quiet the whole time.

Leandrei began to question what the white mass of energy emanating from their body was and soon assumed that it was mana.

'Hmmm.. it looks like the more mana emanating from a person the more powerful they are and from the looks of it the Viscount is the most powerful out of everyone here'

The blonde magician's questions snapped Leandrei out of his thoughts "So how is it?"

"I found out what my ability is, it's quite cool you know, I can see the mana emanating from a person which I can use to determine their power". Leandrei exposed his power nonchalantly.

Everyone's eyes narrowed at what he said, the first to comment was Priest Naruo "You shouldn't tell others your ability! Keep it to yourself, you are already talented enough to have a lot of attention on you, by telling others your bloodline ability you will be giving your future enemies information about your power".

The viscount added "It's true, if you make an enemy in the future they can create a plan to easily get rid of you, you are just a beginner so your bloodline ability is only in the beginning stages, as you improve so will your power meaning it will become even more powerful in the future and help you on many occasions. You can't expose one of your strongest advantages like this". The viscount scolded him to make sure he doesn't prevent this mistake again.

"You can always tell your close friends or someone you can trust but make sure to not tell them everything if possible, even the people you trust can betray when you least expect it".

Leandrei nodded his head and promised himself that he wouldn't tell everyone the full extent of his power. This promise would eventually be broken in the future but what does he know?

The blonde man spoke right afterwards " You should use the same principle you used for detecting your bloodline ability for sensing mana but instead focus on your surroundings. As you grow more accustomed to mana you won't help trouble sensing it so make sure to train in it".

"Okay I will" Leandrei was very pleased with all the advice and information he was told.

And just as he thought everything was done he heard Viscount Watkins saying "Leandrei you should make up your mind on what academy you want to attend soon".
