The princess

Seventeen years after the kingdom fell, a girl was walking around in the market of Shadow Den.

She had a light brown skin, like all those from her country, curly black hair and light brown eyes. Her lips were a little thicker then you would imagine and if she lived in my world, you'd think she came from an Arab country.

This market was both a place for the inhabitants to buy their daily necessities and for others to buy illegal objects.

Looking around she found what she was looking for. An amulet that would allow her to teleport between two locations.

Making sure to move through the shadows, her stealth abilities were being boosted by her class, Royal Spy, and her skill Greater Stealth, she remained unnoticed.

Nearing the merchant, she activated two skills she had gotten from the thief class tree and had leveled to completion, Perfect Pickpocket and Perfect Steal.

The amulet appeared in her hands, she quickly put it in her back after which she ran towards the central 'government' of Shadow Den.

Greeting the guards, she was let in. She met up with the leader of this place, a man by the name of Shadow.

"So, how'd it go? Did you complete the test?"

She nodded showing him the amulet he'd told her to steal.

"Good, I recommend you mark this location, and be proud, not a lot of people can steal from Heckle and get away with it. I do recommend you pay him for the amulet later on, he won't mind as long as you do that."

She nodded, the yelped when she saw her mother approaching.

"Did you go out stealing again? How many times have I told you not to put any ideas in her head Shadow?"

"Oh, c'mon Aella, we both know that she needs to be able to use all her skills to perfection. Since she is already in a higher class of the thieves class tree that she has, mind you, nearly completed, she needs to be able to use those skills.

Be happy she can't learn death magic from this, that's the only thing you'd have to worry about. Look at her, she can probably handle herself better than most high ranked thieves in in my gang."

This was the kind of argument they had every day, the girl had gotten used to them ever since she choose a the thief class as her first.

The way classes work, is that you start with the base class, this one gives the name to the class tree, and then go through the tree untill you have completed a higher class.

Once you have completed said higher class, you can choose a new bas class to start from or choose a different class from the same tree.

"Look mom, my Greater stealth is at the cusp of reaching level 10, if I can get there, I can change to another base class and you don't need to worry about my stealing anymore."

Aella sighed, telling the girl to follow her. After a few minutes, they arrived at stairs that led underground.

"This leads to the ultimate thief course, I recommend you train here for until your stealth skill finally levels up, sneaking around in the market won't give you enough to level it fast enough.

I'll pay Heckle back for the amulet, it's pretty usefull equipement to have anyways so I'll let you keep it."

With that the girl started training. After two days, she maxed out the skill.

{Greater Stealth has reached level ten and has evolved into Perfect Stealth}

{Class Royal Spy has reached completion, would you like to change base class or choose a new class in the class tree?}

She choose to choose another base class, making the class part of her status show NA.

She didn't really know what to choose, so, she went home to discuss with her parents.

Her mom was swinging her sword, practicing her sword fighting, skills might boost your proficiency and keep the knowledge intact but you still needed to practice for most things.

Her dad, Nagiliant, was looking over a map thinking about if it was a good idea to try and get throught the forest.

He had been doing this for two years, ever since the forest had changed ownership and the knights of Dreghy had started to stir up trouble for the Den.

Her uncle Markus was cooking, making some Braadwurst, one of her favorite meals.

"Mom, dad, uncle, I did it, I completed the class, I don't know what I should choose now but I did it."

All three of their faces were filled with pride, to complete a higher class at the age of 20 was already unprecidented, to do it at the age of 17 was nearly unheard of.

These three had done it at the age of 15 but they never told the girl about that.

"Good job Diana, were very proud of you."

They all nodded, when they had been given the responsibility of protecting this little girl, they would've never expected to feel so much pride at every little accomplishment she made.

When they fokd was done, they started to joke while eating, enjoying the clear night sky.

The next morning they woke up to the smell of fire.

Nagi and Aella were stuffing their bags with the necessities, Markus was making saddling the Krisha, making sure that everything was in order.

"Mom, dad, what's happening?"

"They came for you Diana, we need to move now!"

"I don't understand, who, and why me?"

"There's no time, they've already breached the outer gate, it won't be long before they get to the second one, and the it's just a straight line here."

Diana was put in her saddle without much time to think. They started riding towards the forest, she saw her father praying to Chymerion, hoping that the owner of the forest would grant us passage.

They didn't know much about me, they had heard that anyone who dared hurt the animals would be killed but that I was benevent to those who are peaceful.

They rode as fast as they could, when they reached the barrier, they were relieved when they were let through, the barrier closing around them.

"Could you please tell me who is chasing me and why?"

Her mother, Aella turned to her.

"The knights of Dreghy, those that betrayed your father to take his throne and told the people that your bloodline had died out. They want to make that statement the truth."

Only one chapter starting today until my exams are over, although I'm away for most of July so that might also mean less chapters then.
