The King's Unbreakable Wife

“I cannot come to you with my problems when you have the weight of the kingdom on your shoulders. I would rather suffer in silence so I do not bother the king-” “Your husband,” Tobias corrected Hazel, placing his hands on her shoulders to comfort her as her eyes filled with tears. It pained him that he had not noticed how much the palace had been slowly breaking her. “I am your husband first. Do not hide your sadness from me,” he said, wiping away a single tear that slipped away with his thumb. … Hazel Wallace never thought she would make it far when she was picked to enter the selection for the next queen. Hazel was awoken by the sound of someone flipping the pages of a book. She couldn't feel Tobias's arm around her and feared that he might have left her so she sat up to look for him only to find he was the one making the noise.

"Did I wake you? These pages keep making too much noise. I will stop," Tobias said, closing the large book.

"You don't need to stop. What time is it?" Hazel asked. There was still daylight creeping through the window so she hadn't slept till night.

"I don't know," Tobias said, realising how much he had lost track of time. "I will find out for you. It's time that you eat something."

"Just wait. You don't have to leave. Tobias, why did you create a mess with your books again? You can't treat them this way," Hazel said, horrified by the mess Tobias created. 'Would it hurt you to be tidy with your work?"

Tobias looked around at what he thought to be organised. "Everything is where I need it to be. There is no mess."
