The Janitor 1.1

Taylor Hebert tilted her head at the sign.

'Government Janitorial Employment Union.'

She was good at cleaning. She absolutely despised all types of filth. Sense she was shoved into a locker full of Garbage, Bio-waste, and Old-Used Female products, and left in their overnight, causing necrosis and ending in a 2-week coma, she hated filth. She constantly bought new cloths, wore a mask and gloves, and hated skin-to-skin contact.

She also acquired a deathly fear of bugs.

She hated filth. Especially the Filth that inhabited this city. Gangs, Parahumans, people with powers, the useless government, and the even more useless people who lived in this city.

After her traumatic experience, she turned mute, speaking only in one word answers. She hated contact with people, and instead faded into the background, unnoticed and unknown.

Her body changed quite a bit. Not that any seemed to notice, or care, strangely. She had grown taller, to a staggering 6 feet, and her hair turning white. Stress, she assumed. Her 'assets' had also gained a boot, as before people would think she was a male if not for her long, black, curly hair. But her white, short, strait hair practically screamed for attention. Her muscle mass grew as well, with her thighs and biceps no longer making her look like a walking stick.

She stepped in, and the first thing she noticed, was the 𝘊𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 of the place. A small, lobby with blue tiling and white wallpaper, with waiting chair around the sides was the second.

But the 𝘊𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴. Not a speak of dust in view, not a scratch on the tiling, not a dent in the wallpaper.

She walked up to the waiting desk, and a sign simply pointed towards a open door. It read 'Applications.'

As she walked in through the door, a very old man was sitting in a chair,, muttering to himself while staring at a piece of paper.

"Aye Aye Aye, what did you do Miscale?" he muttered.

She simply stood there. After her traumatic experience of being shoved in a locker for over 12 hours, she grew to understand patience.

She stood their for about 20 minutes, before the man looked up from his paper.

"Well? Did you have a piss in your sock?" What.

"Sit down, sit down, your here for the application ja?"

She took a seat in front of his desk, and nodded.

"Silent type, are yah? Well that's fine." he stated, in a heavy accent.

"Well, my names Ahti." He stated.

She nodded again. She handed him a paper resume she had made, and he accepted it.

"Tylor Hebert Eh? Well, why do you want this job?"

She contemplated this for several seconds, then she told him the thing she told herself.

"I hate Filth." She stated quietly. She nodded and gave a satisfied sound. That was the longest sentence she has said since the incident.

"Well, welcome. You catch the end of the thread soon." He reached out with a badge in hand.

She was dumbfounded. That was it?

He say her expression and answered her unasked question. "Well, what else do you need to become a Janitor?"

She tenderly accepted a keycard from his outstretched hand. It already contained a picture of her, even though she hasn't taken one of her new appearance since the incident. It read 'Taylor Hebert, Clearance Level 06'.

She was confused by both her picture and clearance level, but kept silent.

Internally, she was jumping with excitement. She got a job! And her dad thought she couldn't be a productive member of society.

"Jaaa, You start her tomorrow at 8. Don't be late, or I'll Take you behind the Sauna, jaa."

Taylor nodded to her new boss, and stood up.

"Pick up one of those books on you way out." Ahti said, pointing at a stack of books by the door to his office. She picked one up, then made her way home, before watching TV till her dad got home.

She finally heard the sounds of a old car pulling up, and the front door swinging open.

"Taylor? Are you home?" Her father called.

She leapt up from the couch, and rushed to him. She presented her keycard to him proudly, and smiled.

He looked down and read what it said.

"Taylor Hebert, Janitorial Staff? You got a job?" He asked her. She smiled broadly.

"God job honey," He smiled back. They eventually ate dinner, before she retired to her room.

She looked at the book she was given along with her keycard.

'Janitorial Index For the Use Of Categorizing Al Janitorial Duties.'

She opened the book, and read the index.

'Demons'

'Angels'

'Extradimensional Intelligence'

'Extraterrestrial Intelligence'

'Aliens'

'Gods'

'What to do if a Outer God breaches reality in your vicinity'

'How to clean Windows'

'Anomalies'

She didn't know that janitors dealt with aliens. But her new boss would never lie to her! This was probably normal duties janitor staff dealt with daily. She would study this book diligently! She would become the best Janitor ever!

She stayed up for several hours, reading the guidebook, before falling asleep with a smile on her face for the first time in several years.
