A book that can write itself and tell the future? Nana is tasked to fulfil a prophecy, but there's an issue. She doesn't know what the prophecy is. Heroine

This story isn't about a strong heroine who has the ability to save the world.

Nor is it a tale as old as time about a knight in shining armor saving their princess, their charismatic attitudes charming the whole town with a moral lesson at the end of the story.

No, It's the story of the unluckiest and maybe luckiest heroine in any story, fiction or not.

BOOM!

"Agh!" Lin coughed and gasped for air as he fanned the smoke away from his face. "You've surely got to be more careful next time, I nearly lost my eye! Remind me never to seek your assistance again, seriously! We were rather lucky this time." The two of them were in a dark and empty room, the walls made of a cold stone that was blast resistant, making it an optimal room to test out magic.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I swear, I'll be more careful next time, I promise!" Nana laughed through the blurry clouds of smoke that smelt of gun powder and dust. She coughed as bits of debris entered her lung as she inhaled.

"At this rate, you'll never make it far in the wizard license exam, you can't even make a simple fireball, you're hopeless." Lin looked at Nana disappointingly with a large frown.

"C'mon Lin, I'm not that bad, I'm just a little bit rusty," Nana said as she wagged her finger at him "Let's turn that frown upside down. And besides, the exams don't start until a couple of months, we've got lots of time to kill. I've been training lots and lots for it!"

Lin created a summoning circle in the air and created a portal, reaching his hand in and pulling out a dusty, withered and damaged book. "Let's see..." Lin reached further into the portal, reaching his head in as he started rummaging through. "Ah those are where I left them..." He took out a pair of glasses and put them on. He closed the portal and Lin opened the book, flipping through the pages hastily but attentively. He stopped at a page and ran his fingers down. "Nana, your exams are in 2 weeks. Not 2 months."

"What?!" Nana's eyes popped out of her sockets, her jaw left ajar. "Are you sure? How can you even read in this dark damp place with smoke in the air? You need to get new glasses!"

Lin grabbed Nana's jaw and pushed it up, closing her mouth. "Let there be embers!" Lin chanted as he crossed his fingers and a ball of light appeared above him.

"Newm! Newm!" A sentient fireball emerged from above Lin and flew around when a face emerged. It had round circular eyes and a large smile with puffy cheeks.

"Such a show off." Nana said with an unimpressed look on her face.

"Expect no less from the brightest student." Lin seemed proud of himself. "Your exams are in 2 weeks," Lin said as the ball of fire circled around him. "Listen, Nana, as a friend of yours, I'm worried about you. If you want to be an established and strong witch, you're going to need to pass your exams and earn your license. The higher ups at SOUL don't want some idiot running things-"

"Newm!" The fireball flew into Nana's arms.

"Can you stop playing with him already?" Lin interrupted his sentence. "I'm trying to help you here, Nana!"

"But he's so cute! Aren't you just the best boy ever? Yes, you are! Yes, you are!" Nana talked to him like how a mother would talk to their baby. She pinched the cheeks of the sentient fireball.

"Ugh, this is why you have no friends." Lin rolled his eyes. "That fireball isn't even that cute." He tried to not look at it.

"Hey! Don't be rude, he has a name okay? it's Fhil with an F. Like fireball, creative right?" Nana says as she held up Fhil to Lin.

"Uh-huh..." Lin said unimpressed. "Look, tomorrow I'll help you."

"Really?" Nana lunged toward Lin and put her hands on his shoulders. "I'll finally be a real wit-"

"But first you're going to have to back off me a little bit, I can smell today's breakfast from your breath." Lin interrupted.

"Right." Nana pulled away awkwardly.

Thus began the world's most unfortunate witch's journey to stardom.
