A normal day in a normal world

The entrance ceremony, a quality opportunity to get to know students for the first time. I entered the gate as I was trying to mentally prepare myself. There were a lot of students from different kinds. From devils to lesser lifeforms. Good thing the school is shielded from public, otherwise humans would be spending quite a long time questioning reality.

In the big hall in front I saw certain students, most likely our seniors, completing the preparation of the ceremony. They were putting in some work, maybe because they were in their monster form. The school was decorated pleasingly, to the point that I thought it was a shame that it was going to be demolished after the ceremony.

This event is what I'm looking forward to the most. Engaging in various conversations is not an undemanding objective to complete. I have to say though, the students are really energetic. For a gloomy individual like me, it's going to be really hard to keep pace. I'll try my best, though.

I looked around, while doing so I found the students I saw previously back on my way here. Their names were Wrenley, Kyle and Hazel I think. They seem to be in an argument of some sorts so if I want a chance in an attempt to fulfill my objective, now is the best time.

While getting closer, I could vaguely hear what this quarrel was about.

"Why did you need to bring that up now, why Wrenley?"

"Come on, Kyle! We need to settle this once and for all. I can't handle this pain anymore!"

"Wrenley, I told you a million times already, I'm not seeing anyone. If you keep accusing me like this, I'm not gonna put up with you anymore."

Ah, I see.

"Hey, excuse me, but I think you should continue this later." I whispered to both of them.

"Agh, fine." said Kyle as he walked away.

I have seen situations like this in the past. I don't exactly remember though. I didn't know this type of interaction existed among other beings.

Wrenley remained in her posture in shock while Hazel went ahead and kept her company. She seemed to be a nice person despite her attitude and way of talking. Don't read a book by its cover indeed.

I didn't utter a single word after that and just walked away. I'm not a part of those individuals that aren't able to read the mood, so I knew that was not the time to be starting conversations.

And just like that, my precious opportunity was wasted.

After that, I tried to go talk to a few people and got involved with them, but it didn't work out. No, let's say it didn't last long. I just listened to what the others were saying and didn't mutter a single word. I don't think most of them even noticed me. It was like I was a ghost among the living.

After a couple of listens, Suddenly the school bell rang and a voice followed, instructing us to get ready for the ceremony.

I went ahead and sat on a chair on the outer right side. There was no space available since almost everyone tried to sit in their new groups which took up most of the spaces.

Someone came and sat on my right side. I didn't want to be seen as awkward so I only took a quick glance at them. She looked like a male. Should I talk to her? She is most likely a loner at this point. I can become friends with her.

Well, here I go.

"He-"

Right when I was trying to speak, a weird rhythm started to play and there were crackers flaring out of nowhere. A person started to emerge out of the smoke.

It seems like my luck is as nasty as ever. Can't even have a normal conversation.

The thing is very tall and has taken the form of a handsome human male with black hair and golden eyes. It's most likely a spirit, or probably an angel. Spirit and angel energy are quite similar so distinguishing them is hard. I had some serious problems because of this in the past, and I still can't tell them apart.

"Hello dear students. Welcome to the opening ceremony of the newly advanced St. Michael Peters education facility. I hope all of us can be useful to the society at the end of our journey here. It's not just that, I also wish for my dear students to get to know each other. In other words, coexist with one another."

Be useful? coexist? what the hell is this bastard spouting? This is just a trick to manipulate these monsters into thinking they own this planet. Being useful is just the way they say kill humans so they can rule Earth.

"The natural survival rate of our beings are getting lower and lower since stepping foot on this land. Awful as this may be, it will get worse if we keep kicking our heels. Of course, humans have their rights to live as well. So by maintaining population of both largely involved species, we will strive to build good living conditions for our selves and the next generation. This, will be the schools official goal. Via the special programs that the school has set up for all of you, you people will strive to achieve this goal."

To be honest, I believed their persuasions too at first. Then to meet a drastic fate. This striving to coexist bullshit can suck my ass. All I want is to live a good life in the future, without having to get involved with matters such as this.

But unfortunately...

"Then my_"

Suddenly a large tentacle appears and strikes the principal on the head, killing him in a heart beat.

"What the hell is going on?"

"Oh my devil, what is that?"

A large entity formed out of tentacles appears at the entrance of the school. Colored in pure red, possessing a large teeth-full mouth, and abundant amount of eyes.

"Shit, it's them."

"Huh?"

"EVERY ONE EVACUATE AMEDIATELY."

The entity proceeds to massacre the students and staff aimlessly like a blind animal. I tried to evacuate as well, but heard some people desperately begging for others to rescue them.

Among those cries, I heard a familiar voice.

I looked back.

It was Hazel, crying over the body of Wrenley.

"Please help me get her out of all the roble!"

Noticing my gaze, she reached out to me.

Wrenley was stuck under a large part of the main school building, after the tentacle monster had attacked it and it crumbled down in the process.

Her lower half was crushed. There was no way I could help her with my human straingth. Besides, I couldn't stay in this timeline anymore. I need to attend this school after all.

"..."

"Why are you just standing there? Help her man, come on!"

I should gather as much information as I can before dying. I couldn't see anything suspicious on my way here. Someone must have summoned this monster, but for what cause?

"Hey man! are you even in reality?"

"Huh?"

"Are you gonna help or nah?"

The monster started to form more tentacles as it was killing the life forms without mercy. It was no normal tentacle monster. For one to be able to summon that, they needed to possess large mana levels, also be very talented in drawing various magic circles. Meaning this was not a normal massacre.

"Fuck you, peace of shit."

I ran strait towards the monster, hiding behind structures and bodies in the process. I couldn't view much since the monster had a massive size, and getting behind it would take a large amount of time. Until then, I could most likely be spotted and killed instantly. It is worth the risk, so I will resume doing so.

As I anticipated, beneath the monster I could see a magical formula drawn in a circle. I recognized the formula, and was shocked at the one who could draw this. You would at least need to own a 9-th level mana circle and need to have absurd amount of knowledge regarding witchcraft and specially different forms of summoning. This intruder was no joke to deal with.

"And who are you supposed to be, child?"

I stopped in my tracks. His voice wasn't familiar. That's a relief, I thought it was someone I was acquainted with. Dealing with that would be much harder for me.

I turned at the direction of the voice.

"Hmm, what a burden. For there to be a person, yet a student to actually act intelligently in this type of situation. Truly impressive, child."

The man was standing on one of the tentacles of the monster. Clothed in a single black robe, covering his lower half. Hair as dark red as blood. Eyes as cold as a dead fish, similar to mine.

"..."

"This really is interesting. Why are you so calm, child? Does this situation not affect you at all?"

"Why are you committing this awful act?"

"What a well-mannered child. You speak at the same tone as I out of respect, correct? I'm liking you more and more child."

Well, no. I was just trying to look cool.

"Can I know your name?"

"..."

He's dodging my question. I can tell that he is no normal being just by his appearance. I should be careful with my way of speaking to not tick him off.

"Can you please answer my question, sir?"

His expression stiffens.

Is he a sensitive type of guy?

"Ow..."

A sharp tentacle tore through my abdomen.

Yeah, he is a sensitive guy.
