The once quiet, dirty, and ruined town that stood here for what I had assumed to be centuries now laid in even further ruin. The fog that once covered the place had now gone, replaced by billowing smoke that rose to the sky and choked the air with a thick layer of darkness. Ash fell from the dark clouds, smothering the already peppered ground. 

Undead stragglers tried to encroach on our position, desperately and mindlessly trying to save their leader. The vampire I held by the neck looked at me with disdain and a flicker of apprehension. He had resorted to putting up a facade, a wall of false confidence to hide the terror that festered beneath his eyes. 

Yaluk and I were unconvinced, with the Void mage quite enjoying the sight of the vampire's predicament.
