"Damn," Catheline cursed. "Whenever you talk like this, it hits me differently."
"Did you even understand what I just said?"
"A little but that is not the point. What if Ivan Carter is trying to take advantage of your kindness?"
Scrunching her brows, Amber asked, "What do you mean??"
"What if all he wants is to take free sessions from you? Maybe he doesn't want to pay you," Catheline pointed out.
"Are you serious?" she scoffed. "You only said he is one the wealthiest men of the city, why would he do that?"
"I don't know, maybe for free sessions. Maybe he is stingy—" When Amber gave her a weird look, Catheline tried to justice her statement. "Everyone likes free stuff irrespective of how rich you are."
"Your logic doesn't make sense and—" Amber stopped midway when her phone started ringing.
"Who is it?"
"It's your stingy wealthy man," she chuckled before receiving the call.
"Hey, I hope I didn't disturb you."
"No, I was just having breakfast. What's up?" Amber asked.
"Remember the officers from yesterday? I received a call from one of them, they want our signature in some legal document," he informed her.
"Okay, where do I have to go?"
"I'll pick you up from your building around two, is that alright?"
"Sure, just give me a call when you arrive," she said before hanging up the call.
Grinning at her, Catheline asked, "What was that?"
"It was nothing, I told you what happened yesterday, right?" When she nodded her head, Amber added, "We need to sign some legal papers."
"Whatever the reason might be, you both will be spending the entire afternoon and evening together again. Why does that sound so romantic?" Catheline chuckled.
"Because you are stupid." Helplessly shaking her head, Amber sighed, "And will you please for God's sake stop hooking me with every man I interact with?"
"Pfft—you hardly talk to three men—" Sticking three fingers out, Catheline mentioned their names. "Arnold, Percy and now Ivan Carter. Out of which Arnold is already married, you have already rejected Percy several times. So now we have a new candidate whom you haven't rejected yet but you even offered to be your friend."
"You are overthinking again." Glancing at her watch, Amber sighed, "Alright, I have to leave now."
"But I am not done talking—"
"You also need to go to work, Cath," Amber stated before walking out of the diner.
"Hey, wait. At least tell me if Saturday's plan is still on—" Grabbing her bag and coffee, she rushed after her.
…..
Ivan's office.
"What?"
"Nothing."
Trying very hard to ignore his cousin who was grinning from ear to ear for the last twenty minutes, Ivan tried to do his work but couldn't concentrate. Closing the file, he frowned, "Seriously Jason, I know your teeth are in very good shape even after so many years, you don't have to flaunt them."
"Thanks for the teeth-taking compliment but you know I am not flaunting them." Walking towards him, Jason asked, "So are you telling me or not?"
Scrunching his brows, he glared at him. "You did it again, didn't you?"
"Just a little bit—"
"Since you already know, what do you want me to tell you?" Ivan scoffed.
Grinning at him, Jason remarked, "You dropped out from the therapy because you don't just want to have a therapeutic relationship from her, you want more."
