5. A normal day

My car pulls up to the front of the building and opens, I get in, to hear Nadia's voice "where to next sir" she asks

"Let's go have some fun to celebrate" I say

The car starts to move in no specific direction

"Any certain destination" she asks

were coming

"Hmmm let's go to that mall you suggesting earlier" I say

The car makes a quick right turn and we are off in the direction of the mall.

One small drive later we arrive at the mall, the car slowly parked itself in the massive parking lot. This mall was incredible it had so many floors and each floor had a category of items. which is what I could see from the map in the front entrance.

When you first enter the building, it's a basic lobby a big round desk right in the center what looks like to be a waiting room in each of the corners. I see a few people sitting at the chairs watching what I'm guessing are TVs since they are displaying moving pictures. I walk up to the desk in the middle and was instantly greeted in a professional yet nice manner.

"Good day sir welcome to the Cirrus brother's mall! How can I help you?

"Yes I'm here to look around I just don't know where to start" I say

"Not a problem if you will place your phone down on the desk." she says politely

I do as she says and a screen and keyboard pops up in front of her she starts to type something but can't see what.

"Alright you can take your phone back" she says

I put it back in my wrist holster and a map pops up on my HUD first just showing the building highlighting the floor I'm on then it shows the layout of the floor.

"Floors two through seven are all apparel based shops, floor eight and nine are food courts of all sorts, levels ten through thirteen is furniture. Levels fourteen through sixteen are entertainment. Level seventeen through twenty are weapons but is off limits to public unless you are a hunter." she says

I'm a bit overwhelmed, but I decide I should see what's in store for me at each location.

"Where would you like to start sir" the lady asked me

"I'll start on the second floor and work my way up" I say

"Very good sir, my name is Ivy just call out my name when you wish to move on, please stand still as we shift you." Ivy says

I wasn't sure what that means but I stood still none the less. The room starts to turn white, everything seems to dissolve then I appear in a empty hallway then the stores start to pronounce themselves from the sides. A voice comes through my phone it's Ivy.

"This floor has accessories such as necklaces. glasses and the world's most popular items in accessories glove." she explains.

I didn't hesitate I went to the closest store, it was called neck values. Inside was not what I was expecting the walls were covered in necklaces and there was even a sign that said ask for assistance if wanting custom work.

I walked around taking it all in hmm I guess this helps people have a sense of normalcy. A man has come in my direction

"Can I help you in any way sir?" he asks

I shake my head

He walks away after that I forgetten that I can look somewhat intimidating to others.

The necklaces aren't all that special, some aren't even that good looking but it's the properties that really matter. Underneath the name of the necklaces was certain properties and what it did. For example one was called camouflage it was a see through crystal.

" camouflage crystal: when you need vital seconds to reach the bunker just hold your breath and you will become invisible" reads the description

I guess when you live in this society for this long you need to find a way to survive. The more I looked the more I found that civilians could protect themselves but only from small categories not everything would help. Most of the items in here were for defense measures the rest were just for show. I thought about it and decided to buy a few of the items for defense measures but not for me. this was the first time I've thought about this but did I have any family here.

"Gilbert do I have any family" I ask a little hesitant

"Why yes master you do I guess I should have refreshed your memory on them too. Your parents are still alive they don't live to far from you. You have a brother but he's currently on an assignment and two sisters one is at University studying to be a doctor and the other is actually here she owns a salon on the fifth floor."

Well I guess while I have the time off I should visit them, that makes me a little bit nervous I'm not sure how they are or what kinda of people they are.

I leave the necklace store, heading towards the next one the store name is "Handheld" and I now realized why gloves were the most popular items. For children and teens they were more for a game called fire starter. It's a simple game where the gloves create a flame that isn't hot or doesn't burn anything it hits. The council made the game to help develop youth agility, coordination, and tactical skills and it's also a fun thing they can do almost anywhere. And for safety measures the gloves are design to sense if categories are near to warn them to get away from the immediate area and as extra defense measures the gloves give enhanced strength but is only good for up to category four and a defense shield that can stand up to category ten. I wasn't sure if anyone in my family had kids but it would be safe to buy some.

For adults the reason they were so popular just for the purpose of being able to defend against categories until they reached a bunker. even though these items existed of course civilians didn't have the other abilities as hunters so of course it had a warning to use only in a last resort. This is usually a double edge sword some get a big head and end up dead, civilians aren't cut out for it not just in lacking abilities, killing these creatures take a toll on you as in physical and emotional terms.

I moved on to my sisters salon, there wasn't much of a difference between her and the one I had back in my world.

"Oh hey Roxas how are you, this is quite a surprise it's not time for your hair cut." she says sounding both excited and confused.

Gilbert cut into the conversation on my HUD "Sir her name is Demi"

"I had the day off and I decided to come visit and I just got a promotion" I say

"Oh wow you've been climbing the ranks fast mom and dad would be proud, have you told them yet" she asks

"No not yet I came here just due to the fact it was closer to the council, I was planning on going there next" I say.

"Sir not to interrupt but you have two new messages" Gilbert says

"hey Demi I woke up a little confused this morning I guess it might be from my last mission but do you have any children." I ask

"Yes I do have a daughter she's five and about to start school but I won't have the money to buy her gloves for safety so I'm a bit afraid." she says.

I pull out one of the gloves from my bag and handed to her "I thought I would buy extra for that reason" I say

She thanks me and then I'm off.

"Gilbert what were the messages that I received" I ask

"First one is from the council and second is from your scientist friend Ban." he says

"Can you read the council one to me" I ask

"Yes sir" he says

- Dear Roxas congratulations on your promotion, as you know with your promotion comes a bonus and boost in your abilities. Your abilities will kick in in a short while and your bonus should be added to your bank right now. As for your future assignments we will have to brief you before you go since you will be able to collect certain properties that are not available in this region.-

"Ok next one please" I say

- Hey Roxas I got exciting news the council contacted me and told me you are about to go international, well hey I have some request if you can come to my lab ASAP that would be great I think you will be able to benefit this greatly- Ban

"Gilbert where is Ban's lab" I ask

"He is on level 18 in the weapons section" he says

"Ok I guess it's time to head up there but maybe we should make a few stops before we head there" I say

I continued to shop for a while, bought miscellaneous items and furniture because my house looked pretty empty.

"Ivy I would like to go up to level eighteen" I say

"Checking credentials: confirmed hunter status shifting to level eighteen"
