Hello Maria

"Hello Maria."

All talking came to a halt. The backyard went silent. I could hear the kids whispering, probably wondering what's actually going on.

Madison stood beside me, she was saying something when she started shouting.

I wasn't paying much attention but I knew she was most likely telling me to calm down, she more than anyone knew I was bound to explode any second now but I wasn't listening to a word she was saying.

He looked me up and down as I did him. He hadn't changed much, had gotten more muscle, grew his hair out, his dark skin was a bit lighter now. He didn't look too bad either wearing just a regular black shirt, jeans and sneakers.

I spotted a slight bruise forming on his cheek and a cut above his eyebrow which I know for a fact wasn't there last night.

"Mar I can explain." Caleb started walking towards me, I raised my hand and froze him in his steps.

Madison's eyes went wide when she realised the power I was using.

One I stopped using for years now because of how dangerous I'd get when I do ever use it.

She battled with my power to unfreeze Caleb, I released my hold on him and looked at Cyrus.

"What are you doing here?" I said lowly.

I could feel the control I was trying so hard to keep on my anger, slipping more and more but I couldn't just flip so easily and quickly infront of everyone. I couldn't let my anger get the best of me this time... Well I could atleast try.

"I can explain, I carried-" He started when I cut him off by trying to hit him with his own metal balls.

He dodged them and took back control.

"I didn't- no I never wanted to see your face again, why are you here Cyrus?" I said louder but also still trying to remain calm.

"Stop attacking me and let me explain love."

I crossed my arms and waited for this so called explanation.

"I was the one who carried you home yesterday."

Makes sense.

"So what are you like stalking me now? I didn't need your help. Why are you even here, just leave your not wanted here. I don't want you here." I stated, over this situation already.

"Something's going on Maria, and I need your help."

I laughed bitterly.

"Now you want my help, you want MY help? Where were you when I needed your help? I was losing my mind I was scared and you left me." My voice betrayed me and cracked at the end.

Bishop, Lexi, Emily and the rest of the kids had made their way outside now, they also stayed quiet observing what was going on.

"I left for a reason, I couldn't explain it then but I can now, just let me please."

We stood there, no one saying a word or daring to touch me. I stared him down.

"I could easily look in your head to see what it is that you want but I could care less, you've been dead to me from the day you left." I said with venom, staring right into his eyes.

"Then why do you still wear it."

I blinked "What are you-"

I felt the necklace around my neck tugging and rising out from underneath my sweater. I forgot to hide it with my magic.

Caleb looked at me as I looked at Cyrus.

"The necklace, if I'm dead to you then why have you kept it?" He asked.

"That is none of your business, just go away." I moved my hand and used my magic to create a metal block but he deflected it with ease.

"Stop fighting me." He deflected everything I threw his way.

I tried to stay calm, my anger, the rage, it was getting the best of me right now. I could feel that power surging through me again and I decided to welcome it. I was still making sure no one got hurt but I could feel myself slowly slipping into the darkness.

Madison tried to hold me back with her mind, I sent a shockwave and she flew back. Caleb ran to her side making sure she wasn't hurt.

I used my power and dug up some metal pipes from underground and threw them at Cyrus. Of course, he dodged them but some nearly caught the kids as he tried to deflect them.

I quickly outstretched my hand towards them creating a force field to stop anything from happening but when I saw their faces, they looked scared and frightened. I stopped what I was doing instantly and that's when he caught me off guard.

He put my hands behind my back and wrapped me into his chest. I kicked out my legs and flipped him over. He landed on his back, but as I tried to move my hands I couldn't. There was some kind of bracelet wrapped around them.

He jumped back up and gripped onto my arms shoving my back into his chest.

I struggled to get out of his grip but he held tighter onto my wrists.

"Stop it Maria, the kids are here. You can fight me anytime you want but I know you and I know you don't want to do anything you'll regret deeply, not infront of them." He whispered in my ear.

I looked at everyone and the damage I had done. Mads still laid unconscious in Caleb' arms, parts of the backyard had been damaged.

"I will never be afraid of what you really are, I'm the only one who can help you. Remember that." He said softly.

I knew that my eyes were not the same brown hazel color whenever I got angry but after he said that and I somewhat calmed down, I knew they returned to their natural color.

A tear slipped out my eye and fell down my cheek.

"I hate you so much for leaving me." I cried.

He turned me around and hugged me against him, slowly releasing the bracelet off my hands.

"I'm so sorry," He hushed "It'll make sense soon if you let me explain."

I suddenly backed away from him pushing him off me. Looking at him, he had a sad look on his face along with guilt.

"I- I can't do this right now."

And with that I flew off.

Caleb called out to me but I ignored him.

I needed to get away. This was all too much at the moment, he left three years ago without an explanation and now all of a sudden he's back.

I needed to know what it is he wanted and why he's back after all this time but right now I needed to be alone.
