Daphne took a deep breath, trying to calm her frantic heartbeat. As she stood in place, she could feel the moisture pooling on her forehead. It was like the tunnel was breathing, its wispy gusts tickling the hairs on the back of her neck.
With every shaking step Daphne took, the walls pulsated, lightly squeezing on the sides of her body before relaxing once more.
She squirmed forward, the ground growing softer as she moved forward in the darkness.
The scent of blood became more and more noticeable, its pungent smell invading Daphne's senses. The air was musky, and it was becoming increasingly difficult to breathe.
"Is anyone here?" Her trembling voice ricocheted off the walls, amplifying into a lonely wail.
"Here..."
A haunting voice replied to her frantic calls. Her heart rate spiked as her eyes tried to make out any shapes in the distance.
"Who are you?"
"You..."
Daphne's hope was crushed again as she realized it was nothing more than an echo.
