"Was there a wound here before?" Korbin asked, feigning surprise. "This blood was all mine?"
The members of the room nodded, mouths gaping open as they tried to fathom what had happened.
The hole where the dagger wound had been previously remained in the cloth. Yet, as they looked through it, they found that the flesh was whole. A small scar marked the spot of impact, but it was entirely healed.
"What!" A shrill shriek sounded from the corner. "How could it be!"
It was the cry of a desperate animal.
Until the maid began to scream, people had forgotten that she had even been there in the first place.
"I killed you!" Her eyes were bloodshot. "I killed you!"
The maid began to squirm in place, trying to loosen the guard's firm grip but to no avail.
"Who are you?" Korbin questioned.
"How dare you not even remember me!" The maid cried. "You told me in bed that you would wed me!"
