At this moment, I'm walking with Mother and my brother Art towards meeting some close friends of Reynold and Alice's. A few days ago, there was a small argument at the table, where Father commented that it seemed like he was delaying our growth, and just like in the manwha, it was decided to go to the city Xyrus to try to find a tutor.
After the conversation ended, I couldn't help but think about what would happen in the future, as the first important situation of the initial plot was about to occur. I won't deny that I thought of some way to prevent this from happening, but I didn't find any really effective way, because if I say that something might happen, Art might start to suspect something. Also, both Alice and Reynold would simply think it's the fear of a little boy about leaving home.
With that, there's also an important point to consider, and that is that this is one of the most important opportunities, if not the most important, that Arthur has had at the beginning of the story, because thanks to that incident, he will be able to meet Silvia and obtain her beast's will, as well as the dragon egg and feather. These are the fundamental points that will forge the basis of Art's future, so it would be very selfish to take away that opportunity from him. Besides, I might also have some surprises along the way.
Therefore, after much meditation, I decided to let this happen. I'll simply act when the time comes and won't interrupt too much. After packing some necessary materials for the trip, like books, some sweets, and my sword, we headed towards a nearby inn. We arrived at the inn where our parents' friends were staying in Ashber and saw that they were outside, near the stables.
ꟷSo they are the famous Twin Horns group,ꟷ I thought, while carefully looking at each of them. ꟷThree enhancers, a wind mage, and an earth mage.
ꟷHello. Father has told me many good things about the members of the Twin Horns. Thank you for accompanying us to Xyrus. We are in your hands,ꟷ Arthur politely introduced himself, while everyone stared at him directly, unable to believe that such a polite child could be Reynold's son.
Seeing that he had introduced himself, I simply followed suit, but not as formally as him, as I believed it wouldn't be necessary.
ꟷHi, I'm Alex, Art's older brother,ꟷ I said cheerfully, while greeting each of them.
ꟷOne must say he looks a lot like him and has the same hair as her,ꟷ Adam whispered, quickly getting hit on the head by Helen.
ꟷShut up,ꟷ she said, patting my hair.
ꟷAlright, now that we're all here, it's time for us to go,ꟷ my father commented.
After we finished loading all the necessities for the journey onto two carriages, we hitched them to giant lizards, with spikes on their backs and powerful claws, called skitters, which were nothing but B-rank monsters, much more efficient and expensive than horses.
ꟷIt's time for the journey to begin.
...
As night fell, we stopped to set up camp near a small cluster of rocks. It was a good spot, as the rocks blocked all the wind and there were plenty of fallen branches that could be used for the campfire.
When everyone was gathered around the campfire, I noticed Adam approaching Arthur, which ended up resulting in a small test for him. Watching, I could only chuckle inwardly and look on with interest at what was going to happen, because, although I had a certain idea, it was much better to see it in person or even, perhaps things could change.
"Great Sage, help me analyze Art's sword fighting style and Adam's fighting style."
<<Understood >>
In the next moment, I noticed how Arthur ran towards Adam, following the original pattern of the work. He made a small feint, which surprised Adam, but since he wasn't completely familiar with his body, it didn't work out perfectly.
Seeing this, Adam moved quickly, dodging the blow and counterattacking Art, who ducked to avoid the hit. This time, he changed his stance, managing to strike Adam's left ankle with the momentum.
Adam swept his leg, and as Art dodged, he attacked with the wooden stick he had in his hand. This situation left Art with the only chance to use his wooden sword to defend himself.
<<Stick fighting style acquired>>
<<Footwork acquired>>
When the Great Sage's message echoed in my mind, I quickly grabbed a small stone next to me and, reinforcing my arm, I threw it towards Adam, who had just sent Arthur flying, so he was surprised and instinctively used his stick to defend himself, without reinforcing it. When the stone hit the stick, it broke, surprising Adam even more.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, I stood before him with my wooden sword in hand. I decided to execute the most lethal attack possible: I swung with all my strength towards his groin, and at the last moment, I reinforced my sword to increase the pain.
Adam's mocking smile instantly changed when he felt a sharp pain in his sensitive area. His face turned pale, as if all his energy had vanished the moment he felt the blow, and he quickly used his hands to protect that spot from any further attack.
Seeing his weakened state, I decided to follow up with another strike while he was still recovering. This blow landed directly on the hand that was holding his already broken stick from the earlier stone attack.
Understanding that it was enough, I stood up in front of him, puffing out my chest and showing my power as I pointed at him.
"That's what you get for hurting my little brother," I said with righteous indignation, although my childish voice didn't quite convey the power I desired.
Without further hesitation, I strengthened my legs and leaped. Since he was crouched down, it wasn't difficult to reach his head height. I grabbed onto his hair tightly with one hand and continued to strike with the other.
However, this time was different. I didn't reinforce my hands with mana, so each blow I delivered was barely a tickle for him, an experienced B-rank adventurer.
This scene must have been quite comical, because I could hear some laughter behind us. Nonetheless, I didn't stop and kept pulling his hair forcefully. But suddenly, I felt two large hands grab my body and two annoyed eyes glaring at me.
ꟷYou little brat, that hurt. Who taught you those dirty tricks?ꟷ Adam said as he held me by the foot, dangling me upside down. ꟷIt's clear you're his son...
But before he could finish speaking, a large figure appeared behind him, snatching me from his grasp and gently setting me down on the ground.
ꟷThis is all your fault. Who asked you to be so rough with little Art?ꟷ Durden said, looking disapprovingly at him. ꟷBesides, he was only protecting his little brother.
ꟷLet me go, I'll teach him a lesson to apologize to my little brother,ꟷ I said, trying to sound brave and just, knowing nothing would happen, so I let my words out. ꟷUgly redhead, apologize or I'll hit you again."
I could feel everyone's eyes on us. Additionally, it was a peculiar scene: a man over two meters tall holding a small child barely a meter tall, who was trying to hit another adult over 1 meter 70.
ꟷCalm down, little Alex, Art is okay,ꟷ mother said, pointing to Art, who was looking at me.
Noticing this, I simply nodded and sighed deeply. I walked over to Arthur to make sure everything was alright, although in my heart I knew there was nothing serious. However, it was important that this performance ended well.
After verifying that Art was okay, I nodded firmly once more and returned to the campfire.
