Core Sect Test

Cain finally felt at peace now that the three were gone. Hopefully they didnt do anything to stupid to get themselves killed. This would be a good experience for them, they were used to being on top in their worlds, however it was time to learn that this wasn't their world anymore. Either they adapted or died, and they don't have to worry about dying, so they have all the time they need to adapt.

Cain sat crossed legged in his room taking in a deep breath. Even though his memories from those 99 lives had already become blurry, he remember some information. The thing he tried to remember the most was the passage of time. 99 lives, even if they were each a normal person that lived to be 50, that would still be 4950 years that had passed. He started to think about that time, those years spent doing different things. He noticed one thing, nothing in this world could escape the passage of time. This seemed to be a universal fact, unless one became something akin to a god, only then they could escape, but did god's even exist?

Genetic Warriors had existed for a very long time. It had been hundreds of thousands of years since the discover of 'break genes,' and plenty had happened in this time. Yet no one was known to reach the rank of 'God.' One can argue that maybe they did it in secrecy, but for someone to have reach a rank of that level, it definitely would send a storm across the universe. So what was time? Was it decay, the thing that caused all the death and destruction? Or was it life, what made the flowers boom and the child grow into an adult?

Cain thought about this for a long time, these two factors were complete opposites, yet could they live in harmony? Of course they could. In nature we see this fact all the time, time seemed to encompass everything, however time was life or death, or destruction. Time was merely the fuel that let everything flow forward. Time was the fuel that pushed the world forward. Cain could confirm this since he could see time energy particles floating in the air ever since he had reached the sight realm. More of this 'Fuel' would make time flow faster, less would make it move slower, and none would make it stop moving at all. He suddenly felt extremely enlightened, he felt his strength rising slowly but strongly.

His time skip gene went from level 5 to 6, then 7, and it had no signs of stopping. He also felt like he was only a single step away from reaching the realm after sight realm, the hearing realm. The world cleared up in front of his eyes. The time energy in the air became much more solid, he could now see them interacting with the world with much more intricacy than in the past. After about an hour, that increase in strength finally stopped, and Cain decided to check on his stats to see how much this enlightenment process helped him.

With Cain's current strength he was now a tier 7 genetic general and could technically already apply to join the core sect. The weakest in the core sect were rank 7 genetic generals, all he had to do was take the test, but for a disciple to jump in strength so explosively in such a short time would be somewhat suspicious. However Cain didn't mind, people were constantly getting lucky encounters that increased their strength, Cain could just say the same thing. Even if they tried to search him they'd find nothing of value. He could also no longer get stronger in the outer sect, the core sect was the place to be. He headed to the outer sect elder, the one in charge of things like this, and asked for the test

"You want to apply for the core sect test now? Are you insane!? Based on your records you've only joined the sects a few months ago…"

"Don't worry elder, I've naturally prepared thoroughly for this."

"Hmm, are you absolutely sure. I can't stop you from doing anything but the core sect is quite cruel, and the competition never ends. It's not like here in the outer sect, where as long as you mind your own business, no one will bother you. Up there they will find reasons to suppress you, even if one doesn't exist"

"I'm alright elder. If I can't even handle this little bit of challenge, I may as well leave the sect completely"

"Okay disciple, but just watch your back. A little advice from an old timer like me, don't trust anyone! Even good friends will betray each other for a chance at advancing their own strength a little bit more"

"Thank you for the advice elder. Disciple will keep it in mind"

"Good, here's your test. You've got to kill a Flying Magma Bear, their strength is equivalent to a tier 7 genetic general and they live in the Teratop Volcanoes. Be careful, many have lost their lives due to a moment of carelessness"

Cain thanked the elder and said his goodbyes. Next he headed to Miren. Ever since his last little accident he promised her that he would tell her about any of these missions beforehand.

"Brother Cain, you are already applying for the Core Sect…?"

"Yes. I got very lucky on that last mission and managed to encounter a good opportunity, letting my strength increase by a lot"

"But brother Cain, I heard the core sect is very cruel, are you sure you'll be okay…?"

"Don't worry, I'll be fine"
