Prologue

At mount Olympus, there lived great Greek gods and goddesses. Zeus was the most powerful of the Greek gods and goddesses. As god of the sky and thunder and king of Olympus, his temper affected the weather. He also rules over all other gods and goddesses, so he was worshipped in most homes through altars, shrines, and daily offerings. He was also married to the queen of the gods,Hera. As god of the sea and brother of Zeus, Poseidon was one of the most powerful Greek gods. Similar to Zeus, Poseidon's temper controlled the seas, so sailors would pray to him before voyages to ensure safe passage. Ares was the son of Zeus and Hera,he was the god of war. He was a Cruel god, so Ares was disliked by his parents and wasn't worshipped to the extent as other Greek gods. Aphrodite was largely worshipped as goddess of love and beauty. She was the daughter of Zeus. Wife of Zeus,Hera was queen of the Greek gods and also the goddess of women and marriage. However,she was a vengeful god and would take her jealousy of other goddesses out on mortals. As Greek goddess of agriculture and harvest, Demeter controlled the seasons and the growth of crops. She was also the mother of Persephone, the goddess of spring. Her followers would worship and pray to her,in that,their crops would grow successfully. Athena, the daughter of Zeus was the goddess of war. She didn't have a mother, being born directly from Zeus head wearing a suit of armour, as the goddess of war, she's the female form of Ares. Athena is the Paton god of the Greek city, Athens. The son of Zeus and Hera,Haphaestus was the Greek god of fire. He was married to the goddess, Aphrodite. They never loved each other,it was an arranged marriage. He was a very lazy god and was thrown from Mount Olympus by Hera. The youngest son of Zeus, Hermes became the messenger of the gods due to his speed and trustworthiness. Wearing winged shoes, Hermes could fly and travel quickly. He's the protector of travellers and merchants. And then,there was Hades. He's the Greek god of the underworld and he's the brother of both Zeus and Poseidon. Hera is the mother of Ares and Haphaes, while Demeter was the mother of Aphrodite, Persephone and Hermes. Although,they were from different mothers,they all lived happily as one family under the care of Zeus.
