My brothers are tools

After everyone left, I checked on Selena to make sure she was okay. She was sitting on the bed, staring out the window. I walked into the room and sat down on the bed.
/"I used to look at the sky and wish one day I would have people that cared about me. My parents didn’t, and neither did my foster families. So, I ran and lived on the streets, sifting through garbage cans to eat. Showers were a rarity, and I would go to the local library to get warm. Then I would read,/" she said as she looked out the window.
Listening to her talk about what she went through was disheartening. No one deserves to live like that.
/"Then, your mom found me. I thought there were genuine people out there who were kind,/" she told me as she turned mere inches from my face.
I looked into her eyes as she looked back at me as we sat there.
