Dad taught me how to drive, which I got better at to ask Piper out the right way. Even though we’re engaged, I wanted to do this right.

At the bakery, Piper and I would talk and give each other looks. Neither of us could stop smiling, knowing how we enjoyed being in each other’s company.

We were working on an order.

/"I thought we could have a date./"

She dropped her bowl of dry ingredients onto the floor.

/"Or not./" I grabbed a broom and dustpan to clean up the mess.

/"I would like that./"

I stopped and glanced at her.

/"It’s that I’ve been waiting for you to ask me out. With you not remembering me, I didn’t know how long I would wait./"

I walked over and started sweeping up the mess. /"I know, and I’m sorry./"
