As the semester was ending, we worked to draw Derek out and take care of him. Dad and our uncles were arriving to bring us home from school. We didn’t let sleeping dogs lie. We were causing more problems than we needed.

Have you ever poked at a vicious animal? You poke them enough. They finally attack. That’s what happened between Derek and us. Except it came at someone else’s expense, Mia.

Our dad and uncles showed up.

Mia and I were on our way to the house when that tool and his cronies’ sheep grabbed us.

He knew I would beat his ass and pepper-sprayed me so they could take care of business. And business they took care of Mia and me.

/"My eyes!/" I said, trying to stop the burning.

/"Lakin!/" Mia said.

They grabbed, gagged, and bound Mia, doing the same with me.

Derek ordered them to load us in the car so they could finish the job.
