The carnival came to town, and Ma and Dad set up an area to sell items from the bakery. We helped, but I wanted to talk to Lyric. What Piper told me had unnerved me.

Once we finished, I got Lyric alone. I didn’t want to worry the others.

/"Lex, what’s going on?/" Lyric asked me.

/"Piper said something to me about Roger./"

/"Yeah, so?/"

/"She said he threatened to go after you if she ever broke up with him. He said it because of how close you two are./"

/"Does he have a death wish or something?/"

/"I don’t know, but I wouldn’t put it past Roger. Be careful, Lyric./"

/"Lex, if he even thinks of coming near me, I will rip off his balls./"

Well, okay, then.

She turned and walked away. I don’t think I have an issue with Lyric. If I know her, she’ll do it.
