My eyes fluttered open, and I noticed machines in a room. The last thing I remembered was lying down in my bedroom. I rubbed my eyes and face.
/"I see you’re awake./"
I glanced at Nixon sitting in a chair with Nash asleep in a chair next to me.
/"What’s going on?/" My throat felt like sandpaper.
/"You caught a virus and landed in the hospital. You’ve been here the entire week./"
/"My head hurts./"
/"The doctor said it’s a side effect of the medication they gave you./"
Confusion engulfed me.
/"Nash stayed with you the entire time. Ma and Dad called the school and let them know what was happening because classes were starting./"
I’m not sure if it was the meds, but my mind was foggy.
Nixon walked over and tapped Nash’s cheek to wake him. He slapped his hand away until Nixon told him I was awake.
He jumped up and closed the gap between us. /"Mags?/"
