As they dodged and parried away attacks, the door was sealed by a thick wall that was made by Aamon. He was obviously trying to prevent them from entering the room and that proved that Aamon was up to something.
After seeing the huge wall that was in front of them, Alex decided that it was time to break it down. He was ready to let Aamon continue what he was doing, maybe contact back to their kingdom and tell them that the dungeon had been sabotaged. In another case, they might move forward their plans and since the two kingdoms weren't in good terms, it was obvious as to what would happen.
