Chapter 18: Sword of Time

After saying that, the Mother Toad reached down into the pond.

'Reward? What type of reward? Is some type of treasure? People who beat the final boss would usually get rewards but is this right?

We haven't even fought her and the Mother Toad still think we're worthy of reward, it just feels like I hacked the system. Even though this isn't a full game,' Liza mind wondered before the Mother Toad brings out a giant sliver sword.

'What hell is that?!' Liza thoughts went blank when the sword shrunken and was given to Scarlett.

The aura from the sword was warped and impacting, causing the slugs on Scarlett's body to jump off. "For the human girl, I give you the ancient sword: Aether Sword of Time,"

Scarlett gazes at the sword then to her master, Liza nodded in reassurance. Scarlett gulped as she hesitantly took Aether in her two hands.

The blade glowed a severity of colors as flames suddenly surrounded Scarlett along rock from the ground, water from the pond and poisonous cloud. All the four elements surrounded Scarlett before it was all consumed by the sword.

'Human. Please allow to state your name.' The sword spoke inside of Scarlett mind.

'It talks?' Scarlett jolted in surprise but still held the sword with a iron grip.

'Yes child. I, Aether can speak with the power of telepathy,' Aether said with calm and melodic voice.

'So you can read my thoughts?' Scarlett asked in mind.

'Name...' Aether spoke again, sounding slightly annoyed.

Scarlett squeal a bit before stuttering. "It's Scarlett... Scarlett Burke,"

'Scarlett Burke... kind of a ironic name isn't it. Needless to say, it is a pleasure to meet you. For now and onwards, I will aid you for any battle you may face either it's today or tomorrow. I will always be by your side,' Aether said in a humble yet prideful voice.

"Uh... like wise," was all Scarlett, for she couldn't think of any else to say.
