Staying inside that tunnel with a trained killer who could bypass his greatest defense was suicide, after all. But even if he got away from the elf by crawling up to the surface, the elf only had to leave the tunnel and chase after him. And outrunning this alien assassin was impossible considering the difference in their physical abilities.

The elf lunged forward at a dizzying speed, slashing his coated blades at Rhys' neck. The daggers whistled as they sliced through the air, leaving a thin streak of blood trickling down Rhys' cheek after the elf's blade grazed his skin. Rhys jumped back just in time to avoid his head being sliced open.

The elf admired the fresh smear of red on the edge of his blade but didn't slow down. With a ferocious gleam in his eyes, the elf pivoted and slashed at Rhys, his back against the tunnel.
